Natural remedies for MAC
Some have posted they use Chinese herbs and acupuncture to help with MAC. Which herbs and what part of body do you get acupuncture and for what specifically?

It definitely is helping. Just was wondering what everyone else used or if they didn't use anything.

I also know these inhalers affect our bones, teeth, muscle mass. Unfortunate, but so glad these are available.
I’m not on Trelogy. I’ve been on Advair (for mild asthma) and have an albuterol if I need it. Doc plans to change it next visit. We had an insurance glitch when he ordered change in fall and I told him I’ll figure out options.
Hi Barbara, Before my BE/MAC diagnosis, I was going to a Functional doctor and I was tested for Candida and tested positive.... I know it has been counter productive. This week, I decided to cut back, not drinking at all during the week and allowing a glass Sat and Sunday. I do enjoy it, but it isn't something I HAVE to have. My excuse has been I DESERVE a glass after a long stressful day. But I DESERVE to live a long, healthier life!!!
Thank you for tour input! I am super glad I found this group!
I did have my IDD appointment Tuesday and the doctor wants me to go on the 3 antibiotics daily vs every other day. I am meeting with the Mayo IDD via zoom this coming Tuesday.
Have a great weekend!
Good decision, for a start and depending upon what you eat during the week. I'm a "hard noser" and my difficult personality side comes out with family when I want them to do what might be hard and not easy. Easy in the long run comes back to bite us. However, we all have to have a cheat once in a while. Absolutely.
So glad to have read your thinking, I DESERVE to live a long life. Yes, we also want to do right by ourselves for many, many reasons.!
My thinking is that Candida is a coating and the thicker the coating gets, builds up, the worse it is on the system and can make it hard to swallow if it grows. Does that make sense?
Interesting, most of the regular medical doctors say there is not a test for Candida. Wonder what test the Functional doctor did, do you know?
Unrelenting stress, stress that is in ones life day after day for long periods is what I believe for me, is one of the big factors that allowed my system to be weakened and vulnerable to this health problem. Sometimes we take on too much when we should find a way to lessen the burden, stress. Not always easy.
If you still have the yeast problem, does your IDD doctor believe or know that you have Candida? I would mention that to the Mayo Doctor and see what their thoughts are about the starting the antibiotics and the Candida, if you still have Candida.
Remember we know our bodies and routines better than the ones who only see us occasionally and doesn't live with us to know our life and routines. There is also the problem of facts lost in translation that make it difficult for both doctor and patient.
Hope some of this is food for thought for you and so hope you find your way to all the answers to your questions and thoughts.

Barbara,
I just looked up on Quest and it looks like the blood test was Candida Immune Complex, CBC {H/H, RBC,INDICES,WBC,PLT} and Cadida Albicans AB {IGG,IGA,IGM} I haven't seen her in a year due to my insurance doesn't cover and I have had so many other appts / expenses. I will definitely mention to Dr Bosch Tuesday when we meet.
Thank you,
Candida auris Screening by DNA Probe can test sputum for Candida. They did that test on me recently in the hospital. It was negative.
Hi Barbara, it seems we have lots of similarities. I too had a systemic yeast infection about 25 years ago. I'd get a migraine 2-3 x week. Wheat and/or sugar would "cure" the migraine--i.e. I was addicted to them. Booze of any type also triggered the headaches. I stopped eating wheat and sugar, stopped drinking, and the migraines "magically" went away.
Thank you for sharing that information, your experience.
Somewhat a natural cure, staying away from things that we have been told about with regard to health....to avoid and eliminate...... white flour, sugar, alcohol and my favorite....pasta.
I also read about what we had to avoid and eliminate once I was told I had the Candida, systemic yeast infection along with the medication for it. All we can do for ourselves in our 'fights' to stay healthy is well worth it. Not easy and never perfect, but well worth our doing our best to control what wants to control us.
Reality, moderation in all things is the key....including stress.!
May all you are doing for yourself "magically" help you in this journey we share.
Barbara
