Once again, it seems like the results are inconclusive. I share the concern @pacathy has about sanitation. In addition to my concern about the inhaler, I worry about the purity of the salt itself. The hypertonic saline in vials is sterile, but the salt in an inhaler is not; additionally it may be contaminated by debris, heavy metals and other substances.
Finally, with an inhaler, there is no way to measure the amount of saline - it depends on the user, how deeply they breathe and the saline content of the salt itself.
If you have mild BE like I do, it may not be necessary to nebulize saline every day - I use 7% saline about twice a week, and step up to daily if I have an exacerbation of my BE or Asthma or a respiratory illness. But I do airway clearance daily - promoting the elimination of mus=cus either with exercise or my Aerobika.
Cathy and Sue,
Thanks for your responses. I had been thinking about getting a nebulizer, but I think I'll give the salt inhaler a try. If it works, that will be great, if not, I'll get a nebulizer. I do bring up gunk when I do air clearance; the amounts are inconsistent - from nothing but foamy clear to varying amounts of globs of yellow-greenish gunk. But I'm pestered by the questions of whether there is entrenched stuff that never comes out.
I'm not too worried about infection from the solid salt, given its record of helping with lung problems, and knowing that not much can live on salt.
I'll let you all know how I do with the salt inhaler.

I am looking to purchase a high quality air purifier for several rooms in my home.
We have been heating our homes with wood heat for over 40 years. Could this be what has caused my bronchiectasis over time? Maybe.
Please send manufacturing names and web sites if you have any suggestions.
Thank you all!

I haven't bought this nor do I use a salt pipe either.

I have a sister who takes greater risks ("baby" sister) than I and will more than likely order a salt pipe and this salt. She does not have BE or MAC. She went into a salt room a few times and feels it helped her. Personally it all concerns me especially since she could possibly develop BE with all I know about her having colds often through the years and a few bouts with bronchitis and then the Covid....plus.
Sue, I remember what your brother mentioned to you about mask wearing before you came down with BE, if I understood correctly.
So, I have sent you this about the above mentioned SALT to see if you know anything about it.
I can't find much information about it. No good sources online discussing it, as in Mayo, Cleveland Clinic etc.

I’ve been using a Coway Airmega from Amazon for 2-3 years and like it. I don’t leave it on all the time. I usually turn it on when grandkids are here or on very windy days if I’m in and out.
I haven’t noticed wood heat mentioned as a cause of bronchiectasis and will take a brief at the lit. Have you had pneumonia, sinusitis, or reflux?

Madeline, I did a brief Google scholarly search and the first articles that popped up were about communities that used wood for cooking and heating or had excessive exposures. I’m not sure those wood be similar to wood stoves in US. Here is one that was done in US that found the major impact was on asthmatics. You might have seen it already since a recommendation is for air filters. https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC9406613/#:~:text=Results:,by%20asthma%20or%20smoking%20status.

Get a prescription and buy at your local pharmacy. Use the GoodRX card for really low prices.
I have found that Blu offers a top-notch air purifier and the good things about it is that the filters are recyclable!

I only had double pneumonia as an infant. No sinusitis or reflux.
