Anyone taking Wegovy (semaglutide GLP-1 drug) without a gallbladder?
Week 9 of Wegovy: Have lost 25 lbs...
Minimal side effects, cruising until last week, had Gallbladder attack and removal...
Q. Any info regarding Wegovy continuation without a Gallbladder?

I have not started the wegovy yet, I did pick up my script from the pharmacy. I’m still nervous lol
Same issue for years. However it takes the gall bladder to process fats or you have loose stools. Finally I was told to take Bile Salts (I use Good Apple Nutritionals as they are small). I take 2 once or twice a day before eating and no more loose stools. Many take 2-3 before each meal. Works wonders. Also you might consider taking fiber gummies up to 2-4 g daily. Chew well. Best to you.

1 ReactionHi. I’ve been on Wegovy since 12/2022. I’ve lost 100 lbs. I also, do not have a gallbladder and thanks too @max2 for the tip on the salts - of course no one has ever mentioned that. I take my injection every Sunday. The nausea is usually just. The first day now and manageable. I use chewable papaya enzyme (Walmart, cvs) for that. I have to “make “ myself eat most days. And have to be super conscious about protein intake so that I don’t lose muscle mass and have extra loose skin. Also, if you can (even one session), talk with a dietitian about what works best for you and how you are proceeding. You need a balanced diet and it should be timed so you don’t get hypoglycemic (low blood sugar). I’m here if you have any questions. Best of luck!!

2 ReactionsJust wanted to touch base with a few members in this discussion to see how things are going.
@mrsr1234 - how are things going with the semaglutide (Wegovy)?
@mum23 - did you end up starting the semaglutide (Wegovy)?
@financeqt1 - how about you? did you start up on the semaglutide (Wegovy) after your gallbladder removal?
Hi, doing well. I've lost 124 lbs to date. Still have some nausea on shot day and if I eat "too much" but otherwise, I'm trucking along!

2 ReactionsI'm 54 and had my gallbladder removed when I was 22yo. From the very beginning after it was removed I've dealt with chronic diarrhea, nausea etc but just learned to live with it. Fast-forward till present day and my cardiologist recommended taking Wegovy. I wasn't aware till a few weeks before taking of the side affects and how it reminded me of things I had learned in my classes for Bariatric surgery (3yrs ago I had started the process because I needed to loose weight in order to have double hip replacement surgery and double knee replacement surgery. We'll I decided against the surgery and lost the weight on my own and slowly gained a portion of it back. Because of my heart condition (2011 Idiopathic Cardiomyopathy, 2012 1st pacemaker & defibrillator, 2013 1st SCD event and because 100% disabled after that, I've had 11 SCD events to present date). So my concerns were that since I already have issues with diarrhea, dumping syndrome, nausea etc that Wegovy also has the same possible side effects that I had allot of concerns. So I was trying to find some support groups \forums that might have other individuals that may have insights on taking Wegovy and not having a gallbladder when it comes to foods, habits, what to look out for etc. I just started my first shot on Monday the 0.25mg and I'm just being hyper vigilant about everything I'm eating because I want and need to be successful for my health instead of throwing the towel in because of side effects that are manageable as long as I'm doing the right things. Thank you for taking the time to read this and thank you for any information you can suggest
