aquablation and retro ejaculation

Posted by anonymous342 @anonymous342, Jan 30 9:35am

I had aquablation 6 weeks ago and have since experienced retrograde ejaculation. The doctor said I would ejaculate after the procedure but the volume would be less. I can feel it build up but nothong comes out so I now have retrograde ejaculation. The doctor claims I am his first patient to complain about this. BS.... My question to everyone does this ever improve over time or am I doomed with this for life. I also have burning in prostate area and urethra sometimes worse than other times. I assume I'm still healing maybe?

I'm 6 days out of surgery...

In all the literature I read and the conferences I watched on YouTube, retrograde ejaculation is a symptom of aquablation about 10% of the time. When I mentioned this to my urologist, he said the current findings are more like 13% of the time. As to your questions, well I'm not able or qualified to answer them. I hope you the best of luck.

I get the feeling that the procedure causes some damage, and probably scarring, to the urethra.
Which leads to some mild pain during urination.
Which creates a new problem for patients hoping for relief.
I have no idea if this heals over time.
I think every urologist should be required to undergo aquablation and a cystoscopy as a qualification for licensing.

My surgeon said the procedure destroys the urethra lining, mucosa which I assumed would grow back rather quickly. 9 days after my aquablation still feel urethra pain although it is getting better. Urologist seems unconcerned about urinary tract infection. I would agree to the cystoscopy but would not require aqublation for would be urologist. Maybe they do practice on each other in early residency. I think the upside of this procedure is a urination increase is almost a certainty with little likelihood of incontinence or ER disfunction. The down side is long recovery, some retrograde ejaculation and little mentioned issue which is time to orgasm and negative changes in orgasm sensation. Does anyone feel these issues are grossly underreported and communicated?

I don't know what is or isn't under reported, but I do know that in my case, a lot was not communicated,
The rosy result of which I was assured, did not fully materialize.

I believe it is highly under reported! I feel like my doctor got one over on me. I was peeing fairly well before surgery other than having constant prostate irritation whihc I thought the surgery would correct but hasn't. Hell, I could have just kept on suffering and not had the surgery and retained my ejaculation. I guess what's done is done.

I’m writing for my husband as he doesn’t use the Internet very much. My husband at ablation in Ohio he is 71 years old and at all of the issues before the surgery as I’ve read about here. He is six months out from the surgery and has absolutely zero issues With anything. This includes retrograde ejaculation, leaking pain, frequency none of that. I wrote a very detailed comment a while back following him from day one of surgery through the next six weeks please read it. We were very well informed before surgery and actually the day of surgery and our follow up was fabulous. As I said, our surgery was in Dayton, Ohio and he has had zero issues. His only complaint is that he did not do this earlier.

Im 51. Prostate was size 80 I had the surgery 10-16-24. Had the catheter in for six days. Two blockages from catheter. Very painful. Two UTI's since the surgery. The retro ejaculation is real and has no improvement. Still able to get and maintain an erection. I suffer daily with In incontinence. At least two trips a night to piss. My daily life includes never being too far from a toilet. About every hour i have to piss. Sometimes twice an hour. No improvement since surgery. Taking Gemtesa with very little effect for five weeks. The surgery has made my life more of a living hell than before i had it. I would be happy to answer anyones concerns. If you can avoid this surgery my suggestion would make it last resort. Your sex life will be over !!! I had the surgery in Dallas TX

I feel for you.
But I think, if you are patient, things will gradually improve.
More gradually then you were told to expect before surgery.
I'm 10 months post surgery, and still struggle with incontinence, albeit less than 4 or 5 months ago.
I have concluded that retrograde incontinence now permanent for me.
