Evenity
Does anyone know whether Evenity is still contraindicated for people with cardiac issues? I know initially it was deemed a risk, but I either heard or read about a year ago that that had changed. If anyone has or knows where to find recent info, I'd appreciate hearing about it.

@bayhorse the black box warning is still on but you can research the studies. There was no difference in risk between placebo and Evenity and a small difference with alendronate, thought possibly due to alendronate being slightly protective.
My cardiologist was fine with it. I have afib (which causes stroke risk) and had no issues.
See your cardiologist before making a decision.
My cardiologist googled it. I had to tell him that I had already googled it. The cardiologist may not know much about osteoporosis drugs. (And endos may not know much about the heart!) Sometimes the pharmacist who dispenses it can be helpful in my experience. Or maybe cardiologists know more now that Evenity has been out longer!
My nurse practioner wants me to start Evenity and the warnings on the box are so scary. Bone cancer?? Ugh
She said to be on that for one year, and then switch to prolia. Spine T=-2.9, Femoral T=-2.6, Hip T=-2.4, Arm T=-.3
I weigh 110, 58 yrs old. This is my 4th bone scan, declining each time, I tried to use supplements and calcium and exercise, but no luck.
I have very painful calcific tendonitis in both of my shoulders, I had it removed in my left, now I have to do the right. I'm nervous that these shots will create more calcium deposits.
Does anybody have thoughts or knowledge that can help me?
thx
@daisypuffmom I have never heard of Evenity causing bone cancer, and cannot find any reference to that on the website as a side effect or warning. The studies on cardiovascular risk, which is in a black box warning, showed no difference between Evenity and placebo and a small but statistically significant differencee with alendronate, possible becaue alendronate is protective.
Forteo and Tymlos had the warning about bone cancer but it has not proven to be a problem, as it was in rats on large doses.
Some meds increase calcium, some don't. You could ask your doctor or the providing pharmacist on this. I looked online and Evenity lowers calcium levels. Tymlos and Forteo raise calcium levels, very briefly (hours) after the injection.
I can't answer that, but I can tell you that after the first inject I developed edema (10-12lbs worth), mostly concentrated in my upper torso. I can't imagine that'd be good for one with heart issues. I decided to go off it after the second injection.
I only had one set of Evenity injections with adverse reactions. I stopped immediately. Others have a positive experience. Me, not so much.
I just got first set of shots of Evenity yesterday. Feel okay when did you notice side effects? Took Fosamax for 5 years about 10 years ago stopped working. Tried Tymlos 2020 for a month made me sick. Then Covid came so gave up. Now Doctor really scared me. So I’m trying this. Just waiting for side effects to start.
@colic I and my friend had mild side effects around one week. I looked it up and that is probably when the drug's action peaks. Then we were fine.
Did you ever try a lower dose of Tymlos and then work up to a higher dose?
Lots of pain at the injection sites and minor swelling across my entire abdomen the same day. Barely slept. Horrible! I took Tylenol, iced the injection sites and massaged the areas which offered me some relief. I never have headaches and had a throbbing headache for three days. My shoulders severely ached on both sides for six months.
