Did you try the med?
Good morning
First....it is natural to be nervous! My advice is this: Trust your ablation team...they are pros and have done this procedure many times and they understand you are nervous and they will do their best to take care of you. At any time, if you have a question, please ask your team. They want you to be as calm as you can be. If you feel cold, ask for a warm blanket. Your team will not see that as being a bother.............trust me. they want you to be happy.
Your team will do their jobs quickly as possible while respecting your dignity and concerns. Talk to your team......let them know if you feel bad, or dizzy or have a concern...they do want to know. If you feel any pain after the procedure, tell the nurse no matter what the pain is.
After the procedure and you are at home.......relax! Do nothing for a few days. You will notice brusing in the groin area...monitor this and let the nurse know if it gets worse or is bleeding at all. Most of all, do not be afraid to call the doctors office is you have any concerns about your recovery at home. Remember, this is all about your health...you are in charge at all times.
Best wishs on your procedure. I had the RF type and had no problems. I wish you well.
My brother will be having a pulsed field ablation at Barnes in April. He told me that all the EPs at Barnes except one of them, are now doing exclusively PFA. There is one EP who is doing cryo or radio frequency ablations. At least that is what was told to him just a couple of weeks ago at his most recent visit to Barnes.
Amen!
I’ll have to call and see if my doctor will do that then, sounds like the safer one to do.. do you know the doctor that’s not doing them yet at Barnes? Thank You so much for your reply..!
I do not know and asked my brother and he doesn't know. What I do know is they all are making the transition at the same time. It was agreed to that my brother (81) would wait until April for PFA so they all could get better at it. Yikes
Yikes is right!! I’ll call and see what my doctor is doing but I thought 2 months ago when they scheduled the ablation I think it said PVI, but I guess that’s what they’re all called? I’ve been trying to read up on allot of stuff with me never hearing of it all before.. I thought there was only 1 ablation so I didn’t think to ask the doctor..
PVI I think is pulmonary vein isolation which is where they enter through your groin. Now I do not know is if PVI is used on the various ablations, cryo, RFA radio frequency ablation (heat) and or PFA pulsed field ablation.
I know they said they’d be going through the groin.. so idk.. it all sound allot the same except one is heat to burn and make scars and the other is cold freeze and then the new I’m going to have to read more about that everyone’s talking about..
Thanks for sharing. I have similar health issues & your story helps me in future decisions.
