Esophageal cancer treatment: Anyone have good experiences to share?

Wow god bless . I have stage4 spread to liver and lymph nodes. Is there any hope for me medically they will not do any radiation or dilation or radiation. So they say to me, just making me comfortable. Chemo keytruda and herceptin .

There is always hope so hang in there. There may be new treatments come along at any time, and we all pray for devine help as well. Do you have family and friends for support as well as medical team?

We are three weeks post op and your message helps. Getting through the long days and lots of sitting for us, who are super active, is rough. But we're keeping our eyes on the prize (cheeseburgers and romantic nights! 🙂 ). We are stronger than we know. And no question, this sucks! Wishing you and all the very best.

On my third round and fourth next Wednesday. They have all been rough for about 9 of the 14 day and then starts all over. Stage 3 esophageal cancer and on FLOT. Say surgery after the fourth round and then 4 more rounds after surgery. Scared to death as I’m not sure what to expect? Anyone have advise or experience they will or could share.?

I did 6 FLOT then surgery for stage 3. Chemo is rough. Surgery is rough. Just know that it gets better. My heart aches for what you are/will be going through. Life is worth living. Definately need support to get you through. Keep looking forward because you go where you look. Kelly turner's book Radical Remission helped me in profound ways. As did my Oncologist. And my Wife. And my faith (in no particular order). Best wishes for you. Hang in there.

My stage 1 EC was an incidental finding after an endoscopy to determine why I was vomiting blood. I did not experience reflux or have trouble swallowing. Treatment was an esophagectomy in September 2024 (No chemo or radiation needed). I spent 10 days in the hospital and was released on a liquid diet (no feeding tube). In the past 3 months I've resumed most of my pre-op activities, except I tire more easily. My diet consists of solid foods that can be chewed into mush with 100 chews. That means no salads or red meat. I still have mild abdominal pain and weekly dumping syndrome, but I'm managing okay. This experience has left me with a new appreciation for living life to the fullest.

I also had EC but went the chemo and radiation route with no surgery. It worked also so the EC turmor is gone and lymph nodes are back to normal.
