@nursed2075- Welcome to Mayo Connect. Yes, we have a lung cancer group. I am the mentor for lung cancer and health. I do have stage 4 lung cancer. Many people in the lung cancer group do. I'm horrible on my cell phone otherwise I'd put the link here. You can access it the same way you found this group.
Why are you interested in stage 4 lung cancer patients? Have you been diagnosed with it?
Hello @embersonia, I'm sorry that the Tagrisso wasn't effective for you. It can't work for all variants of the disease. This discussion may be helpful as you begin your next treatment regimen: https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/carboplatin-plus-permetrexed/
How long ago were you diagnosed? I'm also stage IV, 4 1/2 years ago, ALK positive.

Hi. My Diagnosis was in August. Treatment started in Sept. Cancer is stage 4. When started treatment it was 4 x 4 cm. Scan in Dec. showed it had increased to 7 x 7.
Huge increase even on Tagrisso.
Starting Chemo on Jan. 3.
So disappointed the Tagrisso didnt work.
My history was generally similar. 4 months in my doctor added Cyramza to Optivo and Yervoy and 4 months later my PET scan shows the cancer has basically disappeared

@embersonia, I hope things go well for you tomorrow. I can certainly understand your disappointment with the first-line treatment. We don't always get to choose our treatments, but it's time to look forward to one that will work. Wishing you well. Let us know how things go.

Thanks for your response. Stage 3 in March. Stage 4 in June. It began about 5cm x 5cm. In June it had spread to other lung and chest lymph nodes but not out of chest. My doctor then gave me a very bleak outcome. Soon thereafter he added Cyramza and I slowly got better. 3 weeks ago the PET total body scan showed no sign of cancer. I am now doing activities I did a year ago. Have tried to maintain a healthy diet and keep away from sugar. I live in the tropics and drink fresh lime juice. I have gotten so much support from friends. Bottom line I think the Cyramza did it. But I believe everything worked. 2024 was crazy but we must always strive for hope. I sincerely hope your treatment went well today.
Welcome to Mayo Connect @lezelle. There are many people here living full and longer lives with stage IV lung cancer. I'm stage IV with an ALK mutation, diagnosed over 4 years ago. I'm on a targeted therapy to keep the cancer at bay.
When were you diagnosed? What treatments have you had?
I was diagnosed in November and have had 2 rounds (3 a week) so far. Another 2 rounds (spaced out every 3 weeks), coming in 2 weeks. It’s small cell carcenoma stage 4.
Yes was on Tagrisso, but it did not work for me. Am about to start Pemetrexed and Carbopltin every 21 days.

@wgbethel, What a great response to treatment!
What stage are you? How long will you continue those treatments?
Had first chemo today. Went smooth. Hope the next 2 days go as well.
