Fibromyalgia pain: Let's connect

Posted by clownscrytoo @clownscrytoo, Oct 22, 2016

Is there anyone here that suffers from fibro? I had the 'tender spot test' several years ago and I had 17 out of the 18. I try my hardest to get through the pain with my 4 hydrocodone/acetaminaphine pills a day, Tiger Balm rubbed into areas that are the worst, light exercises, and distracting myself with hobbies or chores, etc; but there are many occasions where none of that helps and I spend most of the day holding down the couch, getting up about 30-45 minutes after that, walking/standing around the house for 15-20 minutes, or sitting for about 15-30 min. I do not drive and my husband works 6 days a week, overtime almost every day, so I'm alone a lot. my wonderful husband is very supportive and I am very grateful for that, but my only other friends are online, out of state, and I will probably never even get to meet them. when extreme pain takes over, my depression takes over and it is so difficult to find hope. does anyone have tips for fibro, whether diet or over-the-counter meds (I've tried them all, I think), or anything, besides hobbies and such? I've tried every over-the-counter med, and the Tiger Balm does cover some of what the pain pill doesn't help, but I'm hoping one of our members might have some knowledge that could help. I'd really appreciate it.
hugz,

I would love to come to Mayo. However I am seeing my doctors at the University of Texas. I am sure they are the best. They know how I feel. Please let me know if you received my other two emails. My finger must be working against me today. I either deleted my message to you or it send partial answer.

I AM SO SORRY THINGS HAVE NOT WORKED OUT FOR YOU.
MY KIDS ACTUALLY LIVED WITH US FOR 6 MONTHS WHILE THEIR HOME WAS BEING BUILT. I KNOW IT IS DIFFERENT, BUT THAT IS AS LONG AS WE HAVE BEEN TOGETHER.
OF COURSE I DON'T KNOW WHAT IT WOULD BE LIKE IF WE LIVED TOGETHER ON A FULL TIME BASIS. I AM SURE IT WOULD NOT BE THE SAME AS IF I LIVED BY MYSELF.
ALL I KNOW IS THAT MY KIDS HAVE ALREADY PLANNED HOW TO CARE FOR ME AND/OR MY HUBBY WHEN THE TIME COMES. WILL THEY FOLLOW THROUGH? I DON'T KNOW.
WHAT I DO KNOW IS THAT WE WERE BROUGHT UP CARING FOR OUR ELDERLY.
TIME WILL TELL.

Greetings once again ye troopers of fibro. I had a surprise. I am not much into fb, but I belong to a couple of art groups that are good ones-I think. Amazing the talent that is out there. I posted a painting I had been working one and the administrator made it the cover photo. With all of the pain, etc. this brightened my day. This is the watercolor that became the cover photo for the week. I will add it here for you fibro folks or anyone else stopping by.

@parus, thank you for sharing your artwork with us. I look forward to seeing your paintings come across my email notifications. Since art is maybe one of my weakest capabilities (other than algebra), I admire your skills. I had to show your cow to my wife as well, I think she wanted to buy it for our basement!

All I can say is I hope others have better experiences in getting help than I have. I know I am not assertive enough. I live in an area that is archaic in many ways. Moving again is not an option as I do not have another move left in me and where would I go? Anyone with a mental health history is labeled and their pain is not real...esp. Fibromyalgia. Doomed and damned by ignorance.

Actually, since I stopped the methotrexate, I feel like a new person. Each day I am getting stronger. My doctor may not be happy, but I cannot take that poison. No more Infusions. I used Ibprophen for two days now. But, I do not wish to brag as a week from now I could have another flare and find out it was not the Methotrexate. I finally got a call from pain management. They will see me in MAY. Can you believe how busy these pain doctors are. People are desperate for pain relief. I hope some smart attorney files a Class Action Law Suit.
And more good news. I found the perfect apt. It is not only seniors but it is perfect. 50's era. Remodeled kitchen. REAL wood floors. These building used to be military housing. Of course they have been highly upgraded, but the charm of the 50's is just what I was looking for. GOOD news because I feel so much better.
