Post Menopausal vaginal bleeding causes?
I am a 71 yr. Old women who is now having a heavy prolonged period again, approximately 20 yrs. After menopause. I also have pelvic pain like menstrual cramps! I am now waiting on a GYN appointment after the Urologist confirmed it is not my bladder causing the bleeding. UTI symptoms originally started this process, and has progressed to excessive bleeding and clots with the pelvic pain on the right side continuing. I realize this is not a good thing, but am reading only 10 % turns out to be cancerous. Hoping I can hear some encouragement of what else it might be that’s not cancer from anyone that has experienced this. I did have a reprieve yesterday as the bleeding stopped but today it has resumed again! Thanks for any help in understanding what might be happening with my body. Waiting of course is the worst part, and I can’t get into my GYN for 2 more weeks. Thanks again and God Bless!

@kkathysan Such good news! Like you I can't say I took very good care of my body pre-cancer and that was certainly a wake-up call. I hope you will keep up with what you are doing for yourself. My weight fluctuates and as soon as I add a few pounds I get myself back to the plant-based diet recommended by my doctors.
How often do you return for your follow-up physical appointments? Every 6 months?
Yes Plant based is the key!! Not necessarily easy for me bc I like meat & carbs & sweets, but no more for me! I am scheduled for a 3 month check up in January and then I guess we will see. They’ll probably want to do cancer markers every 6 months and scans annually I would think. I don’t know for sure. I am just thrilled to get the surgery behind me! How long have you been on the Plant based diet? It’s fairly new to me so I am learning and striving very hard to stick with it diligently. God is good ALL the time!
@kkathysan I've been following this plant-based diet for about 5 years now. I must admit I do vary from it at times particularly when I'm away from home. I do eat meat which mostly consists of roasted chicken and I eat fish. Salmon has always been my favorite fish and so it is easy for me to get salmon into my diet at least twice a week. Tonight I roasted a chicken with root vegetables and we have lots of left overs. I like carbs and sweets too so it's a challenge for me to stay away from those. The nutritionist told me that it's unrealistic to expect to be 100% compliant with this diet. If I do 80% compliant with the other 20% not-so compliant such as an occasional piece of cake I can make sure I eat a small handful of nuts with the cake and then I'm doing good.
I decided to keep track of my nutrients with My Fitness Pal. I use the paid version and once I figured it out it's easy to use. Then I can keep better track of my nutrients every day. Since I link My Fitness Pal with my Apple Watch I can also track my exercise. I find all this digital stuff very motivating.
By the way I love broccoli. When I started doing the plant based diet I began to have diarrhea and I was worried that I had a new primary cancer or a recurrence. Nope. Too much broccoli means too much of that fiber for me! I still eat broccoli but not as often.
What have you found you like in your new diet that keeps you motivated?
@naturegirl5 That kind of sounds like my diet. I started out doing a lot of Juicing with Green veggies, Kale, spinach etc lemon, Apple & ginger in it. Then eating only raw veggies, big salads with legumes & nuts. No bread, or eggs, or sugar and processed foods. I lost interest in that after about 8 weeks but the lbs really fell off and my bloodwork proved it was very healthy. I have since incorporated some eggs but no more than twice a week, fish, salmon and shrimp and chicken. I’ve never been a big beef and pork eater anyways so I don’t really miss that. But I don’t eat chicken and fish everyday either. My problem is, my nutritionist has me on a gluten free, dairy free, soy free, peanuts, limited fruit, bc my glucose rises easily. I’m pre-diabetic, and have some intolerance to egg whites, wheat, dairy, and garbonzo beans of all things, according to her test. So as you can see, it’s been a learning process. I guess what keeps me motivated is seeing the lbs drop when I get on the scales! LOL I know I will have to continue this diet in some form the rest of my life, but it is a learning process for me right now! I kind of do intermittent fasting in the mornings as well because I’m never hungry in the morning so maybe that helps that I only have to worry about two meals a day. 😊 I do miss certain things like cheese, cottage cheese, fruit, other than berries I’m allowed to have. Sandwiches but hey, I guess I have eaten enough of those in my lifetime.
My Nutritionist did say enjoy eating everything at Christmas and then get back on track! Which is what I did at Thanksgiving and it was great! 😂
Thanks for the info, back to my supplements now. God’s Blessings to you and your family this Christmas!
