Forgot to add that this was my second bout with Covid. The first time, i was away from home and went to Urgent care. The PA said she was not giving me thr RX even though i qualified due to age. She said i was otherwise in good health. and was fully vaccinated. The medication was in short supply then and she wanted to « save « it for unvaccinated people. I am still furious about this. I developed long covid after my first diagnosis of covid.

I started Paxlovid two days ago. At the beginning I had a metallic taste in my mouth which hasn’t gone away. On day #2 I started with diarrhea. I thought it was caused by taking Myralax but Myralx never has given me diarrhea so I think it is Paxlovid. The diarrhea is horrible but I want to finish my regime because my husband is at high risk and don’t want him to get it again. My intestines keep growling like crazy.
What did you take for diarrhea? Over the counter meds? It is Friday so unfortunately I won’t have any information from my doctor until Monday when I finish my 5 days. I never had Covid before since the pandemic so all of this is new to me.

I'm sorry you have covid. It's awful. I have not take Paxlovid, so I cannot speak on your symptoms in relation to your medication. I can tell you that Covid19 carries all of the symptoms in relation to your what you are experiencing. Covid 19 comes with so many symptoms, that is would not be surprising to me one bit. I think if you have a line to call your doctor's office or maybe an Urgent Care or some sort of weekend hotline, I would give them a call. They may have some advice on what may help with your comfort level, or that this is normal, or not.

I talked to my doctor and told me that some people suffer from GI issues with Paxlovid. She ssid to take Imodium but be careful with it because my body wants to get rid of toxins. To use it as needed. Thank God I didn’t have to take it. I drank Pedialyte and improved my symptoms. Today is my last dose of Paxlovid. I still feel tired and have a cough. I suppose this will linger for a while. Thank you.
