Is anyone using Dupixent for COPD?

I read this pill is quite effective

Yes, my injection was my abdomen as directed. Still I’m good at bruising. I can’t imaging how much bruising I’d have if it was somewhere with less fat. haha!

Just a thought.....are you on any anti-coagulants (blood thinners) that may bruising. I am on a blood thinner but never has experienced bruising and have administered both in the thigh and abdomen. Perhaps the Nurse at the practitioners office might want to review the technique of administration with you.

I’m not on any blood thinners or anticoagulants. The NP was right beside me after demonstrating the technique. Anyway, she’ll be back 12/9 and we will try again.

Have you found that the Dupixent is helpful with your COPD?

REPLY

I’ve only had 1 dose, so tough to say if it’s made any difference so far. Also, spilled 1/3 to 1/4 of the dose.

When I normally have shots administered at pharmacy or elsewhere I don’t bruise.

Myself personally it has been a miracle drug. I don't feel like a dark cloud is hanging over me anymore. I can breathe normal now. I use my Breztri twice a day for maintenance as the doctor prescribed . I haven't had any exacerbations since I started . Have been using it for 3 months now. It's a blessing 🙏🏼

I am so happy for you! I know what a relief it must be! I started 11/13/2023 and it worked great until I began having congestion issues the end of May and only got worse. Gave myself a Drug Holiday for a couple of week but to no avail. I thought perhaps had developed antibodies....was most irritated when the Pulmo did not just simply run a serology test to either confirm or not. I did stop it now for about 2 months with less congestion and a tad better breathing, but will start again after discussing with my current Pulmo and possibly looking for a new one. The new Verona medication, Ohtuvayre does absolutely nothing to relieve symptoms. Wonder how that slipped passed the FDA?!

I think Ensifentrine helps SOME patients, especially whose with chronic bronchitis but obviously not all as you’ve experienced.

I do have a CB phenotype as documented by the pulmonologist. So was hoping that the Ensifentrine would be the answer for some relief. Perhaps by adding roflumilast for the PDE 4 boost may help. I am currently very frustrated! And not sure the physician is giving his full attention to the disease progression and possible treatment options. I have had valves inserted which I am sure have helped tremendously because my sats at rest are between 95-97, however, with activity drop but then only to the high 80's. I suppose I should be thankful for that! I am not on O2 except during a shower.

Good to hear that valves really helped you. That may be in my distant future too but I function too well currently and we all prefer to push this further into the future rather than have this happen sooner.

My lung docs also said that in the future we MAY consider adding ensifentrine but that’s not high on any or our lists as the study about its effectiveness was derailed somewhat by COVID. Right now, we have switched me to Trelegy and Dupixent and are waiting awhile to see how I do with these Rx changes.

How fortunate you are! It sounds as though you have an involved and well-informed and grounded Pulmonologist! If the CB phenotype symptoms could be controlled I would be one happy person. Am still puzzled that the Dupixent worked wonders for almost 6 months then ---didn't. Wish my pulmo would have just ordered serology to test for antibodies.....that would answer that! I do wish I had availability to sound care in this somewhat complex case, without having to travel!
