Reversal of a fundoplication

I had a hernia and the fundoplication done in February as post this my chest is on fire. Going back to see the surgeon who did it on Tuesday. Has anybody had the same experience? If this guy does not have a answer heading for Mayo.

Hello I am Belgian and I am 27 years old today I had a nissen in 2015 and my life has been destroyed since this operation. I started having undigested food and an accelerated transit the drain test was normal but it was an omelette with water. I only had problems since
surgery.
in 2017 I asked that we remove the nissen! they have withdrawn but I still have dumping the transit expedited. I had gallbladder removal after octreotide treatment
after the withdrawal of the nissen. the symptoms were identical. the gastros concluded to an anterior truncal vaogotmia. the posterior vagus nerve is intact and has been verified. I am angry I no longer have social life. the surgeon says he always checks the nerve before the operation.
has anyone ever tried a transplant with the crural nerve?

I had the Nissan fundiplication about a year and a half ago. I felt amazing for nine-months. Then, one day my stomach was burning, aching, you name it. I went back to the mayo clinic and got scoped to check the wrap. Well, the GI said the wrap was good and that he also checked me for SIBO. Sure enough, I have it. Along with two ulcers. I was also wondering about a reversal of the surgery. I still have GURDS, and recently found out from a GI in Texas that two-thirds of people who have had this surgery still require acid blockers. So I think I wasted a lot of money, but am not sure if the surgery caused the SIBO. if it did, I will definitely have it reversed. I am worse than I was pre-procedure. So maybe see if you have developed SIBO as well. Good Luck in your quest.

@myskye I am in Maine. I think I read you were in Maine as well. Who is the surgeon you were going to see for a reversal. I'm trying to get in to see one in Augusta now.

I am reaching out on here as I’ve run into many dead ends. I had a nissen 11/14/2016. Since that time it’s been nothing but problems. I’ve been dilated 4 times, lost 28% of my body weight, and most recent a 6 day hospital admission for erosive esophagitis. My wrap is too tight and I can feel it. My most recent test say everything is now “normal” but I’m still having issues daily. I’ve been turned down by the best hospital in my state and even received a letter that the Mayo cannot help either. What can I do? Has anyone experienced this? Is there anyone in the WORLD that will reverse/revise a nissen to provide a patient with relief?

I had my first nissen done at mayo's in 2010. I had nothing but misery. Mayos didn't want to do anything to help me AT ALL and said it can't be taken down. My second was at johns Hopkins's after they said the first one failed. Again same problems. After 8 years of suffering I finally got it taken down successfully 10 days ago in Juarez Mexico of all places: The NIH (google their website since I cannot post the link here) recommends that failed nissens can be taken down for a Roux en y bypass and therefore acid reflex is also still eliminated. ( the link to their website is up top ) it's only been a week but I feel like a new woman! All the top hospitals in America couldn't help me. It seems in the bariatric world they take down nissens quite often and are very familiar with it. Thoracic surgeons and bypass surgeries need to combine their knowledge. Dr. Rodriguez is board certified in the US But obviously it is cheaper for American patients to do it in Mexico if your insurance will not cover. And he does more than anyone in the United States. higher numbers means less complications. Best of luck!

Dennis, My 20 year old son (who was born with a congenital problem of his stomach) He had his 2nd NF of his life in 2014. That surgeon did the wrap too tight and too high up on his esophagus. He lost 30 pounds and currently has a feeding tube due to other health problems because of the too tight NF. Please go online and look up on youtube. Steven P Bowers MD - Jacksonville Mayo. Instead of doing yet another NF on my son he inserted and performed augmentation of the linxs device. magnetic beads form to close and open with food. It is a fairly new procedure hopefully it will take over as the standard not many surgeons know of it. I would highly recommend it. The evening of surgery you are able to eat real food. In fact it's encouraged to eat to keep the beads moving so not to fuse over. Good luck.

I finally had my Nissen reversed after years of fighting. When my surgeon went in my original wrap was flipped and attached to my liver by scar tissue. My first surgeon refused to reverse it and offered me a feeding tube. Don’t give up. There is such thing as a bad surgeon. Nobody is perfect. The linx isn’t even an option in my

I have NF fail. I don't know if it possible to switch over to Linx. Does anyone know if this is possible?
