high troponin levels and tests came normal.

hi! i am 20 years old and went to ER for severe heart attack symptoms (left arm pain, chest and upper back tightness, and left jaw pain). high sensitivity troponin I was elevated (2,400). all tests came back normal (echo, EKG, CT). i do have a family history of heart issues (especially hypertrophic cardiomyopathy). i still have a lot of pain in my chest, upper back, and left arm. i notice my chest near my heart is swollen, and i get sharp pains and cramps near my heart. i have an MRI scheduled but not sure what this could be. any thoughts? thanks! 🙂

You need a second opinion. There is definitely something going on.

This could be pericarditis, but the blood panel would have shown signs of the body fighting infection such CRP (C-Reactive Protein), elevated leukocyte count (white blood cells), and possibly neutrophils.

The swelling you mention, and the lingering pain, suggest to me that you need an urgent assessment by another competent medical team. However, one's chest doesn't normally expand/swell due to cardiac problems unless the pericardial sac is expanded due to fluid, and it would have to be really, really.....BIG! I think you may have infection or an intercostal muscle/connective tissue tear (muscles between the ribs). But the MRI will hopefully tell the tale.

It wouldn't hurt to get another team analyzing data on your behalf.
