Anyone have Laryngeal Sensory Neuropathy?
I am looking to talk with anyone that has been told they have larynx sensory neuropathy. In other words, over active nerves in the larynx.

I cough very seldom when I lay down on my side.
Yes truly messes with quality of life. I too am looking for answers. Been trying different things with meds and sinuses for awhile. Still have every day. I hope you find some relief soon.
I was diagnosed 8 yrs ago with LSN. Spent two years taking different meds the ENT prescribed for it but none of them helped at all. Then went to a lung doctor. He said I didn't have LSN and had been misdiagnosed and actually had COPD and asthma. I spent a year taking his prescriptions and nothing helped. I then went to a gastroenterologist. They wanted to do tests for GERD. Instead of the invasive tests I asked to just be put on the meds they would prescribe if I actually had GERD and we would see if they helped. They were PPI's and I took them as prescribed and they did nothing for the cough, thus I assumed I don't have GERD. I happened to see a doctor, husband of a friend of mine, and he said to take 40 mg of laratadine a day...either two in the morning, two at night, or spread throughout the day. This has worked the best of all, although I still cough several times a day, but none at night. Laratadyne is an over the counter allergy med, very inexpensive. Of everything I've tried this works the best. Good luck.
I have tried nearly everything for my throat clearing problem including reflux and sinus meds (RX and OTC) apple cider vinegar, gluten free diet, etc. I have had allergic tests and a endoscopy and no MD seems to have an answer. Throat clearing sounds like a minor problem but definitely affects the quality of life for a sociable person! I have been taking
20 mg Amitriptyline at night and it has helped a little but some days it is still bad. I will definitely try Laratadyne. Thanks so much for the tip.
I know I am at my wits end with this throat clearing. Every day and night. Some days worse than others. Not sure what to do next. Have asked PCP for referral to have Food Allergy Test. I have had some response to try no dairy, chocolate and no peppermint. I also have had ENT appts and gastro did Endoscopy. Also going to ask other docs I see to change me to different med to see if this helps. Hope you find more relief soon...
Hi, could you share details about the CBD product you're using? I've been dealing with a chronic cough and have experimented with various treatments like tramadol, SLN injections, Amitriptyline, Gabapentin, inhalers, nasal rinse, Lyrica, etc. thank you soooo much
I am no longer taking the CBD drops. Seemed to help at first but like all the other medications that didn’t last long. I still take the tramadol 3 times a day and also take medical marijuana to help me sleep. The cough seemed to quiet down a bit but I recently got a cold with a cough and now it’s back to where it was. Coughing all day long and having several attacks during the day. I wouldn’t wish this on my worst enemy. It’s a terrible condition to live with.
Are there any long term effects for taking tramadol 3 times a day? I take tramadol temporarily (50 mg) when amitriptylene stops working.
Have you had a CT of chest to rule out other pathology for cough. Also , if your cough is productive then get a sputum sample for culture/sensitivity, fungus and AFB. If none of this is applicable, I sincerely hope you find answers and effective treatment.
I often wonder about the long term effects also. I tried to cut back on the tramadol to just two tablets but the cough got increasingly worse. I guess I will need to be on the tramadol for the rest of my life which I am not happy about.
