Hormone Replacement starting at 75yrs old

Doing reach, I have decided to try HRT with testosterone, very low dose. I’m in pretty good health, but was diagnosed with Polymyalgia Rhuematica 2yrs ago. I’m Just trying to make a better life with what yrs I have left. There are so many positive messages out there, and yes I’m on the older side. I have 6 daughters and we have all been doing a lot of reading on this subject. Is there anyone else trying HRT at an older age?

I did find an Endo in the office my Endo is in who focuses on the hormone treatment of transgender patients. I might check with her, though I am not transgender.

I would not take them..it is normal not to have hormones as we age. Just use lubricant and nature creams like coconut oil etc...just my opinion

Endocrinologist, Rheumatologist, GYN, Phyician assistant, primary doctor and many more. It really comes down to how 'up to date' the person is with HRT. To save a lot of time and disappointment call the office and ask if the doctor prescribes HRT or more specifically for postmenopausal women. I just asked Copilot to list doctors close by me that prescibe HRT. It showed me 4 options. One of them was my primary but did not show my Endocrinologist who manages my HRT.

Thank you so much for your response. I will do that.

The patch is absorbed straight into the body and does not have to be digested. There is no increased risk of clot or stroke using transdermal estrogen, at standard doses. It's the safest method in my Dr's. opinion. He's a strong proponent of HRT, hard to find. Unfortunately, he retired.

Do you mind if I ask your age? I'm one of the baby boomers who was scared off of HRT but, if it has some protection against bone, breast, and brain disease, I'd like to try a low-dose patch and progesterone. I'm on vaginal estradiol and it made a huge difference in a short length of time. The benefits are only local, though, as I understand it.

I found a local gyn who focuses on functional medicine. The practice looks very involved, but it requires a membership with monthly fee. Three types of memberships. Rather pricey. It didn’t appeal to me. Too much like an infomercial.

Listen to the podcast of Kelly Casperson MD, who is a urologist in Washington State. Especially listen to episode 291

I have been avoiding using estradiol, that as prescribed. Can you please tell me exactly what are the benefits when you said made a "huge difference' in a short length of time? Thank you

I went from severe vaginal atrophy, including bladder discomfort, to having a perfectly normal vaginal area. It made everything so much better, including intimacy. That aside, no more burning, stinging, etc. there’s no reason to worry about estradiol. It’s locally applied and isn’t systemic. I’ll take it from now on.
