Has anyone had an insertable Cardiac Monitor?
Just curious if anyone else has a Reveal LINQ implant ?? I had one inserted in July of this year to monitor my palpitations. I have had palpitations for years but earlier this year they changed (at least for a while) and I experienced shortness of breath and pain with the palpitations.
I just think this is really cool technology.

I agree that the insertion was a piece of cake. But the next 24 hours were horrible
Can anyone tell me how much does the ICM and its insertion cost in the USA?
For how long do you have to hold the Patient Assistant over the implant? Only when the episode starts or the full time of the episode?
Just when the episode starts. Basically it is just making a mark or notification on the recording. Then you should follow up with email or call to your doctor to let them know what you were experiencing at that time. And if you don't have your Patient Assistant with you -- just note the time and then notify your doctor to look at the tracing during that time frame.
My procedure was $20,000 -- but could have been far less, I believe - if performed in the clinic as opposed to an outpatient surgery center like mine was.
That sounds kind of funky about the insurance company -- but I've never traveled in a plane or anything yet. You should be able to get an MRI though there are some limitations as to how the MRI is done. You should refer your institution to call the Medtronic number direct to get all the particulars for an MRI.
Thank you for your moral support, jj. However, in my country there is not enough competition which would make insurance companies and healthcare providers to bother with ICM holders. They can afford to just deny us their service.
Is ICM cheaper or more expensive than the insertable defibrilator or pace maker? Does the $20.000 unclude the costs of surveillance by your cardiologist?
No, it does not include the surveillance costs by cardiologist. Those are about $120 every quarter for just the basic surveillance. If I had a lot of activity, it would be more.
No sedation was required. Just a local anesthetic to the chest area.
