I do not have a gallbladder and have been on Wegovy 2.4 for 5 months. I started at 1.7 mg then increased gradually to 2.4 mg. No issues whatsoever. I did lose 34 lbs. initially and gained back 17 lbs. I have been switched to Zepbound 10 mg, no issues to report.
@gatogrande
I do not take Wegovy , but had a gallbladder attack and it was removed. After gallbladder was removed, my tolerance of certain food changed. So, the combination of gallbladder removal and Wegovy may affect your ability to digest certain food.
I recommend discussing with your provider about any changes to your diet that might be needed. Another suggestion is to keep a food diary and note any side effects to certain food to help determine what you cannot tolerate. I have to be very careful with anything fried.
Were you on Wegovy for weight loss or to control diabetes?
Hi. I've been on Wegovy since 12/2022. I had gallbladder removed 9/2022. I have not been able to exercise due to medical restrictions up till now, but have lost 96 lbs. I have not had many issues besides the "norm" side effects: nausea, getting full super fast, not hungry, can't eat sugar, fat, or fried foods.
Weight loss...
Have lost 25 lbs., over 9 weeks...
Had gallstones since 2015, minimal side effects, cruising until last week, had Gallbladder attack and removal...
Q. Any info regarding Wegovy continuation without a Gallbladder?, obviously concerned for liver, pancreas, kidneys and additional unannounced issues...
I have been researching options to continue, however PCP has me stopping Wegovy until I see him next week...

Hi @gatogrande, I have moved your 3 posts into the first discussion that you started to help people follow your journey and keep the discussion in one place here https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/on-week-9-wegovy-1-0/.

@gatogrande, it sounds like you are pleased with the weight loss that you've had over the past 9 weeks. Congratulations. But I agree, after having experienced side effects, you are naturally concerned. You are best to follow your doctor's advice to stop Wegovy until your appointment next week. He will want to check things out and discuss next steps.
I understand that you want to continue with your weight loss. Hopefully this is just a pause so you can check your health status.
Did I understand correctly that you have had surgery to remove your gallbladder?
