Thank you for putting things so clearly.
I have found that it is important to make sure no fecal material or liquid reaches the urethra. If this occurs even without your being aware of it a bladder infection will follow. I am careful to always wipe from the front to the rear. As I age I find that it requires I pay careful attention to this. As will, after a bowel movement I place a tissue in the rectum to prevent any mucus from coming out of the rectum and making its way to the urethra. Since doing this I have had zero bladder infections. I am 77 with lichen sclerosis and this care works for me.

1 ReactionGreat idea about the tissue!
In addition, do you mean you place the tissue inside the rectum or on the outside area?

1 ReactionOn the outside area mostly with a tiny bit just inside the rectum to hold the tissue in place. AlsobI never use suppositories or Vaseline it's too easy for them to melt and carry germs towards the rectum.
My dr recommended D-Mannoae 500 mg. At the slightest tingle I take it and it's been very helpful. NOW brand can be found on their site or Amazon. PS. A bidet toilet seat has been very helpful as well.
Hi
That is good information . I have been getting u t I in the last 2 yrs every 3 to 4 mths. I am using vagifem. Twice a week. I will ask if I can have an estrogen cream for the outside. I am so frustrated 😠. Since I hit my mid 60's.
I am not in a position to argue (aging male who uses a toilet exclusively), but if I understand the principle behind a bidet, the jet of water might encourage intrusion into the urethra of unwanted bacteria from the vulva......or not....? I mean, it's not like bidets haven't been used by millions for about 120 years or more. Im just making a comment that, to me, I would desist from the use of a bidet if I had a female anatomy and were treating a UTI.
I think that would b a NO No ! Also
Estrogen cream is the answer for all aging women (Premarin Vaginal Cream). Preventative care of urinary tract infections is best for your overall health and well-being.
I’ve tried cheaper, “natural” remedies with no positive results. YOU are worth relying on a proven, safe product that will protect you!
