Bursitis and hip pain
What is the difference between bursitis and hip pain? I saw a doctor and she said I have bursitis but now I also have hip pain.

I noticed the pain about two years after my hip replacement. There is a percentage of people that do get bursitis after THR. But maybe not connected. I do get injections in it every few months. Sometimes they help and sometimes not at all.
Have you ever had a chiropractor do an adjustment or acupuncture?
Can I ask how old are you
I had hip pane . I found a nerve specialist and had nerves blocked. No longer have pain
@marthaellen , I know your post about your 2018 BMAC hip procedure was several years ago, but I was curious if you had an update... did it work for you? How is your hip today?
I just wanted to let you know that Martha has not been active here in several years, so may not see your post.
Here is a more current discussion about hip bursitis that may help you:

Are you being treated for hip bursitis? What treatments have you already tried?
Thank you! I have a number of issues, bursitis, OA (subchondral cysts), FAI, IFI, labral tears. All that said, I feel like I'm on the brink of recovery after changing my diet, adding some supplements, and being very good about PT. I just received a BMAC injection yesterday in the hip and am hopeful it will work. I'd love to get back to running without having a hip replacement!
Hmmm...as a long-time runner, at 55 I had (per the ortho) "the hips of an 85 year old" with severe OA, bursitis, a deformed acetabular and other issues that no amount of PT could fix, so I had bilateral hip replacements. Fast-forward 18 years, with 3 revisions and numerous other joint and lung issues, and I must say I am glad I listened to him and did not start running again, or I would probably need new hips again. As I watch my 8 yo grandson run races, I would really love to join him but I think I'll stick to fitness walking and yoga and just cheer for him.
So my question to you is, can you find another sport to love so you can spare your body?
A year ago when this all started, I said there is no way I’m quitting being a runner. Today, I better understand and value what I do have. So yes, I’m coming around to it 🙂 Thank you for your wisdom and your perspective!
I have an update. My pain is gone now and I'm traveling by plane again soon. The steroid injection fixed me for the time being. I don't expect it to come back if I am careful. I made a big mistake when I first hurt my hip by putting heat on it which inflamed it further. I should have used cold packs.
