I am just finishing the 10 wk pre surgery education. I am waiting to hear my surgery date. There is so much to remember. I am feeling a bit overwhelmed, worried I will forget something.

Congratulations on finishing classes. Do not worry about forgetting something, your care team can always answer questions.

Have you decided the type of surgery you will be having?

Sorry, maybe replied to wrong comment. I was replying to Sonja who just finished pre-surgery classes. Every medical clinic has different requirements before being eligible for weight loss surgery. Hers required classes.

As far as what you should eat, any healthy diet will work. There are lot resources, but if just starting out and wondering what healthy eating looks like, I think this page has some basics for healthy eating.

Have you talked to your provider about diets?

I just started the process myself. The first thing you do is get your consultation for your surgeon. And then you speak to the surgical coordinator or bariatric coordinator and they set you up with all your appointments with the dietitian and the exercise specialist and behavioral health. And then after get through all those appointments, then they'll schedule your surgery.

This has now become a real thing. I have been through the therapy sessions and met all the requirements and now the surgery date has been set. I will be doing the RNY in December. I have the reading materials etc to get the list of items I will need and to the processes to get started with the liquid diet prior to the surgery and pureed foods afterward. Does anyone who has been through it have any specific suggestions on preparation? From your experiences, what were some of the issues that arose during this time that you might not have been prepared for? Any suggestions are appreciated.
