Morning depression
Is there a thing called morning depression? If so, what does everyone do for it. I do take celexa but still have morning depression and anxiety.

To @peeteer22 and @frouke and others:
I can tell you about my similar experience with Xanax. I took a low dose (generally half of a .25 mg) for about 3 years mainly at night although there were many times I needed it during the day but held off/powered through the anxiety because I was afraid of dependence. About 2-3 years into taking it my anxiety and depression worsened (even started having occasional suicidal thoughts-so terrifying) and I finally realized I was having withdrawal symptoms (the next morning after taking it at night) and I stopped it cold turkey. A year later my anxiety and depression are almost nonexistent and I am finally starting to sleep better although I rarely ever get 7 or 8 hours sleep. Please consider going off the benzodiazepine and getting a prescription for something else if you need it such as Trazodone or Amitriptyline (spellling?). I am very sensitive to all drugs and never found anything I could tolerate so I healed with Ashwagandha, Gaba Calm and other natural supplements. Benzodiazepines are scary drugs. There is a reason that most doctors will not prescribe them.

I am grieved to read your message and what you are going thru.
I hope you get a second opinion and pursue looking into whats going on in your body in addition to your brain.

@1oldsoul, thank you for your helpful reply, you are so right about this, I know that benzodiazepine is not a good medication in all cases but it’s been my constant go to medication for over 20 years. The thought of having to stop taking it seems insurmountable to me and not to possible especially now with cancer in my life for the last 5 years. I got through the worst of times with this disease by taking Ativan, I truly don’t think I could have done it without this medication. I don’t want to sound like I’m promoting it by any means but for some people it’s a life saver. I’m resistant to antidepressants and went through hell on earth trying to use them, I would regress mentally and physically every time I tried. My pcp tried to pressure me sometimes ruthlessly to stop me and it caused terrible anxiety, I realize I may have to look into having to stop them because he is planning to retire next year, the thought of that is very daunting to say the least.
Esikora,
Your post has revealed there are several sisters in the am crying club and im one of them.
We are in good company!
So virtually, lets cheer each other on!
BTW:
Let me offer something else that helps distract and get me in a calmer and pleasant mind.
BRAIN GAMES STICKER BOOKS.
Put on some calm or inspirational music and do a page or 2.
Theyve REALLY helped redirect the tears to dryness. 😂🙌
I love the Mosaic, Psalms, Stress Free, Words of Jesus, Stained Glass, and Folk Art.
I was first gifted the Psalms. When I started my first one, I couldnt believe how therapeutic it was! Great music, nice brain activity and DRY EYES with a Joyful heart.
Hence, bought the next one and voila; a SUPER EASY DISTRACTING activity that showed me I COULD accomplish and overcome and move on thru the day!
Hope this helps!
And yes, I will be praying for you!

Thank you, 1 old soul.
This is helpful to know.
I will be weaned off lorazepam within the next 2 months.
My mom passed in January and the 2.5 years I had to fly twice a month out of state to check on her.
I developed all kinds if symptoms, gastritis was severe.
Then my BC was found in gut lining.
Im just about to finish her estate and when its closed, I will be dropping the lorazepam.
I will watch out for the withdrawals and chart my moods.
I appreciate the heads up! Glad youre better!
Best.

This may sound like a joke but I am serious.
I have a glass of wine each night about 5:00 pm
and no matter what the problems have been during the
day, I feel better. Part is the alcohol & part is it signals
the end of the day. A blessings journal is also a good idea.
A friend who was a therapist kept a Positive feedback file
with comments from her clients & I have had professors/ teachers
also do the same with comments from students= happy time!!
Good luck......also buy a "Life is Good" tee shirt 🙂 Kayr
Some morning depression I believe is caused by fear and/or disgust for the day to come. I have often found that a light breakfast with two cups of authentic Irish breakfast tea (made in Ireland) and then an hour of walking usually sets me up for at least a manageable day, even a "glorious" day on many occasions. Walking and other aerobic exercises have been very effective for me.
I have been plagued by generalized anxiety disorder, and panic disorder most of my life. I’m not sure how I would’ve coped with many hundreds of situations without a benzodiazepine in hand. Been taking a very low dose of Klonopin most of my adult life without any issues at all, except major relief of anxiety and situations I needed to get through. I have been slowly tapering down and feel confident that I could get off if I wanted to, I think it’s a safe medication as long as you understand its limitations and issues with discontinuing.
If drugs help, celebrate the fact we live in the 21st century & have
access to them. We brush our teeth everyday but don't say we are
addicted to toothpaste. Unless your doctor says your drug of choice
is having a bad affect on liver or kidneys, be glad to have a choice.
