Husband overly amorous

Posted by knuckles10 @knuckles10, Sep 11 3:44pm

My husband (90) with mild cognitive impairment has become overly amorous at bedtime, middle of night and in the morning. Way too much! I know it relaxes him but it's affecting me. Suggestions?

No. I have MCI. We can still take no for an answer without falling apart.

A wife and caregiver. Sometimes he's not certain which , but I can see that. Spouses are both. Fortunately I haven't needed help--but can't leave more than 3-4 hours. Have found someone, a nurse, who will come in.

I've found that amorous behavior can be redirected by participating in a relaxing behavior. When your husband starts to touch you...tell him you want to give him a back or foot massage for example. Make sure you are giving him a "theraputic" massage and not a stimulating one. The goal is to provide "touch" which he craves without stimulating him. Try to relax him into sleep. Stay away from sensual spots on his body. Afterwards, tell him that it's time to go to sleep. Another idea is to place a pillow between you and him in the bed as any contact he has with your body is causing arousal. Having a pillow between you prevents intermittent contact. You can say that you need the pillow for your back.
Hoping for a good outcome.
