Covid 19

I had a question to ask; I hope somebody can help. I have been sick for 1 month and can't take it anymore, so I went to the doctor. When I went to the doctor for a checkup. She did a nose swap and told me I don't have COVID 19. But my test shows that I do. Why is that?

I completely agree, and always feel encouraged to hear of others who take such care and concern about COVID. Your family is blessed to have you looking out for them. I'd be concerned as well with the conflicting information from the doctor and the test result. I live in the Chicago area, am immunocompromised with an entirely immunocompromised household so sadly COVID never stopped being a risk =(. We're experiencing an uptick in cases and hospitalizations in this area. Yet, when I was in a crowded bakery the other day wearing a mask, a group of tween boys was mocking me.

I hope you're able to resolve things soon and you recover quickly.

emo, Keep wearing your mask with your issues. I wear one as well when COVID is on the uptick in my area. I have never gotten COVID from wearing a mask and going to the doctor, grocery store, etc....it was brought into my home due to my family working and others in their workplace having COVID and my family members contracted it from them and brought it home.

You have to do what is right for your body. Bless you and I pray you do not contract COVID.

I always wear a mask when I’m in a public place, I don’t wear it when I’m outside. I’ve noticed for some time now that people either look at me like I’m crazy for wearing a mask or they’re afraid to get near me perhaps thinking I’m sick and contagious. I worry about the RSV virus but the government won’t cover the cost, $300.00 Canadian dollars, only those over 75 or living in assisted living homes. I resent that they don’t cover it, just more government greed.

Don't let other people get inside your head and just do wants right for you. They won't be there if you get sick, so who cares what random strangers think.
My wife & I have never had Covid. Our docs call us unicorns...laff! We wear masks in risky places, faithfully use hand sanitizer, and vacinate.
All the lookers have been or still are sick from Covid to widely varying degress. We think we're are the correct ones in this case, as our methods have worked for near 4 years and kept us both healthy. If we get Covid now it's a much weaker stain. Bonus is we haven't had Flu or a cold in 4 years, as well. We travel RV camping the entire summers to get out of the FL heat. Last summer went to Maine, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, PEI, NewFoundland, by way of the east coast. Previous summer, Colorado, Rockies, Tetons, Yellowstone, Glacier, BlackHills, & Custer. We are not shut-ins and still avoided infections, successfully.
Best wishes...

@johnbflat, thanks for your interest and I agree with you, they aren’t going to be there if we get sick, they’re just scared and want to believe that this virus is nothing, they should read what we know about this evil thing that has and still does to us. I swear since this pandemic started it’s like the portal to hell have opened up. I think you and your wife are one of the smart ones and are doing the best thing for yourselves and others by wearing masks, all the best for and your family, Frouke.

I started going to a new dentist in July and noticed that they wear masks when working on my teeth but they pull them off when they’re done. I was so nervous about it and then a few weeks later I got bronchitis which is no walk in the park with COPD and asthma, I went to the hospital and they took an X-ray to rule out pneumonia, also tested me for Covid and RSV, thankfully negative. I don’t want to go anymore until after the virus season has passed. I just don’t understand why they became so lenient about wearing masks especially in medical settings.

I would certainly encourage people who get Covid to immediately seek Paxlovid. It was not available when I had Covid. Although I had a moderate case of Covid, two and a half years later, I am still struggling with the lingering damage of this virus. Most people tolerate Paxlovid and it will likely prevent you dealing with long Covid.

My life has been ruined and I hate to think of it needlessly happening to others.

I took Paxlovid for my last round of Covid as I was high risk and urge others to take as well, but I developed LC after this bout and with the Paxlovid. Hopefully it reduces the likelihood of LC, but it didn’t help for many of us unfortunately.

I’m so sorry you have developed LC. It’s certainly true that nothing works for everybody.
It may not have worked for me either, but if have another bout of Covid, I’ll give it a try.
