Hi Scott. My name is Taylor and was just told I have high grade bladder cancer surgery will be on Aug.20th I’m wondering how old you were when you found out you had the cancer? I’m 47

2 Reactions71 Taylor. Found on routine physical urine test. I had two surgeries( doc had said there would be two ) and now ending my 6 week bcg immunotherpy. Will go back in with scope in late sept to see if cancer has reoccurred

4 ReactionsI never saw him. I just received a referral to an Oncologist that I see Wednesday and Moffitt Cancer center. Luckily, Moffit has already moved my appointment up from Sept to Aug 23rd.

2 ReactionsHow did your 6 week bcg treatments go? Mine start Friday 8/16 and I'm getting a little anxious. I've had 2 turbts (HGT1) and feel back to normal now so not looking forward to bcg.

1 Reactionto Sue@swh I just finished my 6th treatment today, after 1 TURB. I had no reactions or problems the entire time even though I was expecting the worse. I was concerned because I never got a full dose - 1/2 dose at first treatment and 1/3 dose at the other 5. I was told they've done testing and these doses are sufficient. We'll see when I have my cystoscopy on 9/24. Good luck with yours starting 8/16.

3 ReactionsHi Sue, The BCG treatment on the bladder really are not that bad. I received the full dose of BCG on my 1st visit that made me nauseous and achy. The Dr then cut the volume in 1/2 and other than being a bit tired and embarrassed having 3 people run different gadgets up my privates, it was not that big of a deal. Having my kidney removed, 5 months of chemo and 1 year of immunotherapy had it's significant challenges.

I had same surgeries and diagnosis. I completed my 6 BCGs without anything more than mild bladder irritation from #'s 5 & 6 which resolved by the following morning. I just went for my recheck (still cancer free!) and will have second cystoscopy in mid-Nov followed by 3 more BCGs.
Unfortunately the waiting and worrying about results appears to be the hardest part for me.

2 Reactionsto Sue@swh Update. My cystoscopy on 9/24 was clean so now doing 3 BCG treatments then another cystoscopy, then repeat and repeat. No problems so far. Still getting just 1/3 dose of BCG.
