Parkinsonism

Anyone else diagnosed with Parkinsonism (advanced testing) but no diagnosis of Parkinson’s, nor MSA, nor PSP nor Lewy Bodies. Like to talk? Curious about other routes Parkinsonism can take

They always put in something about neuropathy in all the Parkinson’s things that I’ve been reading. I wonder why is David any better?

I'm sorry to hear of your mother's passing, @anitaxblack339. Losing a mother is difficult for sure. Was her death recent?

I'd encourage you to post in the Loss/Grief Support Group here on Connect. Here is a link to that group,

This is a good place to share memories of your mom with others who have also experienced loss.

When you see the specialist, you may find some help.

I appreciate the information you provided about your Cerebellar Ataxia and Parkinson's diagnoses, @foundryrat743. As you said that you've been taking Carbidopa/Levodopa for seven years, I'm wondering what your most difficult symptoms are right now. Is walking or balance a problem for you?

That describes me. I ‘failed’ the DAT Scan (dopamine transporter scan) and was then tested at Mayo for MSA. Don’t have it. I already have cerebellar ataxia which gives me numerous symptoms some of which are also part of Parkinsonism. I have read of the other Parkinson’s Plus dire medical conditions none of which match up well for me. Don’t know what’s next….

I am sorry that you are having such a difficult time finding a correct diagnosis, @mvanstem. It is hard to live with symptoms without a clear-cut understanding of what is causing the problem. Neurological problems can be very difficult to diagnose as so many neurological disorders have symptoms that overlap.

What are your most troublesome symptoms right now? Have there been any therapies and/or medications that have offered you any relief?

My most noticeable symptom is my imbalance and drunk like walking but what bothers me the most is how my vision has been affected: nystagmus, oscillopsia and double vision.

Would love to know the names of those dozen or so conditions. I know of only three and none of them fit me.
