Going off of Xanax

It works very well and that’s why we have been using it, sometimes I feel so frustrated and scared because it’s horrible to hear how many people are going through the same thing. Honestly if we analyzed most drugs they give to us it would be scary to hear what each medication has the potential to do but we still use them for help and doctors rarely do anything about it until it’s brought to our attention, this is compounded by the fact that they are so very addictive. I mentioned earlier that all the attention came out with benzodiazepines when the opioid addiction problems started, the poor people who were given this drug were told it wasn’t addictive but that was a lie and then the doctors had to reduce and even discontinue giving them to patients. Now we are hearing about all the suffering they are going through and even buying drugs online that are killing them. This is a proverbial nightmare that wasn’t their fault but they are the ones paying for it, my fear is that this sad situation will and is happening to the people who use benzodiazepines. We are told that we learn from our mistakes but this is one very big mistake and now we are hearing about it,

Actually my bio is my question, I was told if I try to come off xanex I'd die , I was put on it at age 15 and now I'm 54 I didn't know any better or what the med was or what it could do to my body over time , all in all honesty I wish I could sue tge makers of this drug, not only am I addicted, the state of Indiana whwre qe bought a home wont write tge perception so wvery 3 months i drive 14 hours 1 way to get it , i cant hardly take tgis ride anymore as i have other issues like deteriorating bones and more , help please . I took the seizure medication Klonopin along with the powerful opiod fentanyl without any problems.
The benzodiazepines Midazolam, Lorazepam Valium and sometimes Klonopin are essential in the treatment of a potentially deadly seizure disorder known as status epilepticus. A condition which I've had numerous times.
Don't let the fact that opioids and benzodiazepines are often abused and the cause of their addiction. There are legitimate medical reasons to use these drugs.

I agree with you but both meds are highly addictive and usage escalates in both cases causing problems like overdose. My deepest sympathies go out to the many victims of opioid and the benzodiazepines that they treat you with are just as bad hence an epidemic of overdoses. It’s just a major injustice to treat addicted people with another highly addictive drug that is also creating another huge problem for those of us who use it, I have had personal experiences with these meds so I can speak for myself but if you look into benzodiazepines discussions you can get a clear idea of why I made my comment.

I found out the hard way how difficult it is to get off Xanax. My MD never warned me of this . 3 days with no Xanax sent me to the ER with 300 BP.. horrid headache, nausea. I thought I was dying or having a stroke . ER team did a brain scan to check. People must be made more aware of this. Check with your Pharmacist. I did not have this problem with Prozac...quit easily.

I want to stop this medication because it can contribute to falls, especially in older individuals, & I am considered a high fall risk. I have tapered off to 1 mg per night, for one week without any side effects, thus far. The doctor who initially prescribed it, is deceased & I am currently looking for a new primary care physician.
