Anyone taken Evenity (romosozumab) for Osteoporosis?

Posted by arlene7 @arlene7, May 27, 2020

Has anyone taken Evenity? I understand it’s only been on the market for a little over a year. I’m hoping it will help with my severe osteoporosis. Any information is helpful.

I had a debilitating back pain for over couple of months before starting Evenity ( on July 2). After week I had a rapid heart beat and dizzy spells. For a couple of weeks. I was going to therapy which never helped for my pack pain. My doctor advised me to do bone scan. I just found out that I have two very new stress fractures. Just guessing that I got them in therapy. The nature of my back pain changed from stabbing to burning and my legs are very weak. I had previously compression fractures and those are healed. Anyone having stress fractures and how to deal with pain because therapy is out of question at least for now.

I have had four injections. No side effects. I am hoping it will work!

I will be starting with Evenity in two days...has anyone received helpful advice on mitigating some of the side effects of the injections.
I am very anxious about this whole process...since I am a minimalist when it comes to meds! But, realizing that OP is a formidable opponent, I decided to take the leap!

I finished my 12th round of Evenity injections in early June. The only issue I had was with the 1st injections--extremely sore arms. I have a very high pain tolerance (3 babies natural childbirth), so I was very surprised at how painful my arms were for several days. I couldn't even tolerate laying in bed, so I slept in a recliner for a night or 2 with my arms across my chest.
So for injections 2-12, I asked to have injections in my abdomen. Piece of cake!!! A real blessing!!! Only had minor discomfort at the 2 injection sites and I could easily wear jeans, waisted clothes and lay on my stomach at night to sleep.
Otherwise, I had no side effects and had great improvement in my DEXA scan later in June. I have moved from osteoporosis to ostepenia and began Prolia in July.
Best of luck!

Thank you! Yes, I have had 4 natural childbirths as well...so I consider myself a pretty tough cookie. But the key word here, for me, is "natural". Thanks for the tip about abdominal shots...
Congratulations on your great improvement!

I was also very hesitant to start Evenity. I had my third Injection yesterday and as of yet no side effects. My arm was sore after first set of injections but nothing after that. Good luck

I just completed my year and the only side effects happened in my 3rd month I believe . I had some burning down my neck to my left shoulder and then lower back pain . It wasn’t consistent and I was able to tolerate it .
