I have had varicose veins for years and they never caused any problems (apart from being unsightly). About a month ago I had an attack of thrombophlebitis and so
I went to see a vascular specialist. He sent me to have an ultrasound scan of my legs and I have a follow up appointment with him next week. I'm pretty sure he is going recommend radiofrequency ablation and I am very nervous about this. I was looking for more information about the pros and cons.

Hello,
Me too, similar problem and I have been referred for vein stripping surgery. I have not had the surgery looking for different options. Ablation seems like. Less risky option. Thank you for sharing

I had ablation treatment. In addition to many scars, all of my variscosities came back. Now I have thrombophlebitis from mid calf to groin. Very painful.

My right leg is permanently scarred from varicose vein surgery on August 29 2022, and I have had thrombophlebitis for one year. It has been painful to this date. I had to stop P/T from other issues unrelated. I have been experiencing sleep problems due to the pain in the upper right medial calf that radiates up the right inner thigh and travels down to the right ankle. I'm seeing another vein specialist for a 3rd sonogram. The 2nd surgeon was disturbed I picked him with 30+ years experience because he felt I should have gone back to the original surgeon who botched up the surgery. I told him that I had, but I didn't trust him. I see a 3rd specialist on August 22 2023.

Does ablation treatment have any other names it goes by? I have not heard of it.
Ablation therapy is for a very fast heartbeat, from what I have read.
