Has anyone found a good alternative to Flovent?

Has anyone found a good alternative to Flovent 220 MG. I am out and tried ordering from Canada but my medication is lost in the mail. Tried the re branded med but it doesn't seem to work as well as the old Flovent.

When the manufacturer stopped making Flovent at the end of last year, my pulmonologist switched me to Trelegy. I found it more effective than Flovent, but it is costly. You should research and speak with your doctor to see if this is a good solution. It is also taken once daily instead of twice. Best Luck!

I have tried the re banded stuff. I am not convinced it is the same. But maybe I contracted this bacteria and just didn't know it when I tried the re-branded version of Flovent. Maybe that is why I didn't feel like it helped me breath. God these bacteria's are never ending. I ordered Flovent from Canada a month an half ago. I found out last week my 3 inhalers were lost in the mail system. Now I have no choice but to use the rebranded drug they replaced Flovent with until Dr figures out what to try next. Never ending circle. Somebody else said that they were giving her Trelegy too.

Is Trelegy a inhaled powder. Super allergic to all of those powder inhalers. They actually burn my throat and my skin in my mouth to the point that skin starts peeling off . If it is a regular old inhaler I might need to try that one. Is it new?

Went down a rabbit hole trying to find answers to your question on google but I’m in the car. Maybe you can do a search to find answers about Trelegy but don’t forget your doctor is the best source for answers relating to your specific condition.

I have tried every dang med out just about. Old ones and new ones. Have been taking Flovent since 1994. It made my asthma completely disappear except when I get Covid or flu. Thanks to the fantastic politicians that passed a law to get the price of insulin down causing the manufacturer of Flovent to sell to Medicaid at a loss. The manufacturer said, We will reband (now the generic Flovent sells 2x as high as my old Flovent) and Flovent is no longer sold in the US. So help out the diabetics and screw over asthmatics. Tried ordering from Canada and my order of Flovent got lost in the mail for the last 2 months. Having to settle for now for the generic.

Pretty sure Trelogy is a powder form in the inhaler which I am allergic too. I looked it up and it looks like the power inhalers canister as well as I saw the words powder in it. Flovent came as HFA and a powder. Maybe Trelogy comes both ways as well. I can ask the pharmacy tomorrow.
AT this point, I know more about the asthma meds than the pulmonologist. However, I need him to write the prescription for my asthma and do my broncospy and wash out my lungs every few years of mucus.
Appreciate all of your help. I have been dealing with all of this since 2012. I am tired.

Regarding Flovent - there are numerous alternatives - and I suggest calling your insurance company - when you have the time and patience to be on the phone with their pharmacist. They can tell you how much alternatives will cost. Trelogy is used for many COPD cases. QVAR is a good alternative for Flovent. If you have a nebulizer machine - a less expensive alternative is Budesonide via nebulizer. It is not prescribed that often (it is an old medicine that does work). Of course, rinse the mouth and watch for any reactions, like you would for any other inhaled steroid meds. Do your best to stay off of prednisone pills - it is hard to get off if you are on them long term and have a whole host of side effects. Good luck!!

Trelogy is a powder from what I find on the internet. Allergic to something in the powders that burns the skin in my mouth and throat. So all powders are out. Need the HFA. QVAR did not work on me . Never heard of Budesonide. That might be worth asking my DR. about. Have tried just about all of the old and new meds at one time or another because I have had asthma since birth, I'm 68. Flovent was fantastic and worked for me since 1994. Now we can't get it in the states. I did finally get Flovent from Canada but it took 2 1/2 months to get from New Zealand to Georgia. It is not called Flovent but called Flixotide in UK and New Zealand and they have different measurement system . However, it works better than the old Flovent but no counter. Have to keep track with pen and paper. I just can't be dependant on meds that take almost 2 1/2 months to get here. So in the mean time looking for another Canadian company for meds. Would love to find something that worked in the states where I could go to the pharmacy and get it plus use my insurance. I was approved after fighting with Medicare for months for the re-branded Flovent as Fluticasone Propionate HFA 220mcg but went down hill on the meds after using for 2 months. Been taking the Flixotide for the last 5 days and feeling fantastic again. Was able to do a hike this past weekend 1 mile straight up a mountain. And I do mean straight up. Had to take breaks but then everybody did that was hiking the path. Not sure what New Zeland is doing different that the states with Flovent but I like it.

My Flovent, (it is called Flixotide) in Canada, UK, and Nw Zeland , just arrived this past week. It only took 2 months and 1 week to arrive. Man this stuff is better than the old Flovent. It has already started to get me back to my old normal in just 4 days. Not ordering anymore from the first company that I used (which was Canada Drugs Direct 3 months supply for $242.99) but a lady at church orders from another Canadian company and loves it. My new Canadian company will be Discount Canada Drugs. Lots cheaper than the first company too. I can get 3 months supply for $134.00. I use the highest dose manufactured so more expensive for me. It cost just a little more than my 3 months supply of the old Flovent through my Medicare. Here is how you get to Discount Canada Drugs: http://www.discountcanadadrugs.com you can't just look it up on Google and find it. AT least I could not. It is a licensed company and the old Flovent (Flixotide) comes from New Zealand. Apparently, it does take some time to get your order even from here. My friends say they get their medications in 2 weeks and not 2 1/2 months like mine did. Good luck to all of you looking for an alternative drug to the old Flovent. My DR. did tell me that this was OK just make sure the drugs don't come from India, Bangladesh or somewhere like that.

Looks like you are set but just saw this post. I switched from Flovent to Symbacort (Budesonide) and am doing extremely well. My pulmonologist couldn’t believe my FEV1 numbers. Tried Trelogy and hated the powder. I like to use the spacer with Symbacort

Yep I am set if my meds don't keep getting lost in the mail system. This New Zeland Flovent is fantastic. I have not felt this good in a very long time. I was able to climb a mt on an extremely steep incline this past weekend after being on the old Flovent meds for just 4 days. Climbed years ago and did fine and just wanted to see how I did at 68 as opposed to age 45. Had to take a few more breaks and used my emergency inhaler once but I was keeping up mostly with the age 30 crowd. Can't believe it. Ordering from the new company I found in New Zeland today (3 month supply) and giving it plenty of time to get here before I run out again.

By the way, I can't take Symnacort , just flat out did not work. Most of the drugs don't help with my lungs. My body is persnickety when it comes to drugs. So happy for you that you were able to find something here in the states that is working for you. It is a lot easier when you can go to the drug store and pick it up locally. However, if you ever need the old Flovent, I think that I have found the jack pot on this one.

I've used SYMBACORT for over four years and love it. Once in AM and once in Pm. Once in a great while I may have to use ALBUTEROL around four PM if I'm really active. It's over $400 but my social security and champva insurance pays all except for $25 for it .
