After 8 months heart is still in A-Fib. Cardiologist gave me 3 options

Posted by cturner01 @cturner01, Dec 18, 2020

Yesterday I had consult with my cardiologist about what to do next . Shocking hasn’t budged my heart. They calling it chronic. He says I have 3 options
1. Do nothing - continue on Eliquis &’Cardezim
2. They can give me a high powered drug (forgot the name & try shocking again) side effects are pretty rough
3. Set up consult with an electrophisiologist for consult about ablation
I’m not sure what I need to do, but I had him set me up with the consult electrophysiologist for 1/6.

Anyone else going through this?

One of the comments was about those who previously served. The VA is available to anyone who has served more than 181 days. Unless, they were discharged after basic for some medical reason, hence a medical discharge.

For those who served in RVN (Republic of Vietnam) absolutely! Even those who served in what was called the "Blue Water Navy"..those near land in the Gulf of Tonkin. This decision by the VA was a long time coming and the foundation is the Agent Orange issue. If you have any disease that is "presumptive" because of Agent Orange, then you will receive benefits and full health care. I have TriCare for Live as a retiree. I can go anyplace but I use the VA near The Villages in Florida (I don't live there). I find the health care extremely good. Lastly, with sites like this, an individual can assert more educational energy to their own physical problems.
One thing about the VA..they are not in it for the money.

My Dr. he is as slow as a turtle. He likes to just keep putting me on pills that I don't want to be on.

My next door neighbor in Florida went to a doctor for tests to prove to her family she was fine and could live alone. She WAS fine and 82 yrs old. One of her numbers was a little high so that put her on a med. The med made her legs swell up so they gave her a diaretic. Then it was like a snowball to hell adding meds to take away the side effect for other meds. In 6 months she was taking a handful every day and her last side effect was depression which she NEVER had. I showed her. that ALL her symptoms were from her meds. I encouraged her to wean herself off all. But she was so depressed, she told me she had had enough, and closed her eyes for over a week and died! She was my best friend, but started going on this trolley to please her family!
The docs killed her. I suggest to everyone I know, that if you have a health problem, YOU investigate what YOU can do to help or eliminate through diet, habits etc.

I’m in AFib 95% of the time. Looking into the Warchman insert to get off Eliquis. Always tired.

Those were the choices given to me as well. I am not interested in anti-arhythmic drugs which have tremendous and possibly dangerous side effects. Will seek a 2nd opinion before getting an ablation. Changing diltiazem to amlodipine seems to have helped since I am experiencing fewer Afib episodes.

My Sis had A-Fib and was on many medications for years . The meds eventually weren’t helping so she had the ablation last Sept . What a complete game changer for her . She was actually having fainting spells prior .
She’s still on Eliquis for life ( blood thinner) and High BP med but got to go off a lot of other meds .
I hope and pray 🙏 your Dr. will get you scheduled soon .
I’ve had 2 episodes in my life , lasting a couple of hours . I think 💭 it was something I ate that I never eat that caused it . I do have PVC’s on and off my whole life . I take Heart Calm Supplement ( google it ), usually puts me back in sync . I also have 7 chronic digestive disorders that kick my heart palpitations up .
