What's your experience with duloxetine (US Brand Name; Cymbalta)?

Posted by d13 @d13, Jan 11, 2022

I was prescribed by my oncologist for the neuropathy in feet and hands. The chemotherapy treatments did this. This drug also states that it is used to treat depression and anxiety. As with any prescription medication, there could be side effects. And a huge list of what not to take with this drug. He also prescribed hydrocodone 5 mg, but to take half of pill four times daily for cancer pain. We’ll, when I got home and read about the Duloxetine use; one of the medications on the list was hydrocodone. I’m now waiting for a call from the oncologist office to see if I can take the Duloxetine with the hydrocodone. Can anyone at least tell me if they have ever taken this medication; Duloxetine? And any side effects?

I have been on Cymbalta for at least15 years. It has worked well for me. I have bouts of depression that lasts about two weeks or so. I have been seeing a rheumatologist for several years now. Five years ago i was diagnosed with Sjogrens. I was also diagnosed with fibromyalgia in the 90’s. I would like to get off some meds, I take Gabipenten and Cymbalta plus my maintenance drugs for BP and indigestion, but I’m afraid to get off them. Plus the fact that I was diagnosed with psoriatic Arthritis several years ago. I just went off Plaquanil because it was starting to affect my eyes I am desperate to know how Sjogrens affects everyone else.

@journey2013

I was wondering what would be a good drug to add to the 60 mg Cymbalta, which I will continue to take?

They added Abilify to mine. 5 MG. Just helps as an enhancer.

So taking Abilify did make a difference?

Has anyone stopped Cymbalta after several years? Are there withdrawal symptoms? What kind? For how long?
Thanks for your response

@myacct123 Are you prescribed duloxetine for anxiety, for depression, for pain? I suggest that you go to the top of the page in the search bar and type the following:

Duloxetine or Cymbalta

Many of our members have posted questions and comments about this medication and I think you’ve find more information that way.

Diagnosed with Sjogren's several years ago and my eyes mouth and all moisture were affected constant water for extremely dry mouth & constant moisture & steriod drops for eyes. Terrible pain, just doesn't let up. Also take Duloxitine but pregabalin for Fibromyalgia & Neuropathy. Occasional Aleve for back & other pain/inflammation. Lots of inflammation. Also diagnosed with Raynauds & motion disorder. I have a lot of anxiety/depression & Lyrica/Duloxitine helps. w that. Daily enadryl for allergies. Hope this helps.
