CBD oil for pain

Posted by timfitz @timfitz, Jul 19, 2016

After trying opiates, and lyrica, and mostly just suffering I tried sublingual CBD which is from the marijuana plant, but has no THC in it, you don't get high. It was very very effective. Not only did it reduce my pain at least 75%, it has a calming effect on the anxiety produced in those of us with chronic pain by the fact we have it. I do recommend it.... Be sure it is from a reliable source. You don't need to smoke anything or get high.

Sounds like this is something you've already started for your pain, but you are not getting the results you anticipated? Will you share about how much/when you've taken it thus far?

@lisalucier @peggyn @maryshipley Hello everyone. I began about 2-3 weeks ago on CBD pure oil purchased from my regular drugstore. The dosage is 20ml of oil under the tongue for 1 minute and then swallow. You can take it when you need it. I have been taking it twice a day. I follow up with a hot caffeinated drink The oil is different from the tincture. I have some tincture. I also have some CBD sparkling water drinks which contain 10ml. They are handy if you are not at home.CBD does not make me feel drowsy or high.It soothes pain in a subtle gentle way. I haven't been on for a year because Ihave been so very ill. The headache that i discussed last year did not go away.No medicine worked and the pain began to spread throughout my body, anyway that is another post and i just wanted to mention that the stunning thing about CBD oilis that after 19 years on heavy doses of insulin, My body appears to be able to use my own insulin again. It happened suddenly, so if you are a diabetic, caution is very important, you will have to watch your glucose very carefully.

I am really confused on cbd oil.. Do you take it everyday weather you are in pain at the time or not?? Do you take it morning or evening?
What I really would like to know is do you have to take it for several days or weeks to get it built up in your body or can you expect relief after taking it right away..I think I've been maybe not taking enough because I'm not sure when you should get relief>>
If you have any knowledge on this please share>>

@peggyn If you have chronic pain it is helpful to use it everyday. I told my internist about it and put it on my list of meds. You do not have to build it up. Used correctly it begins working in 15 minutes. It is important to use it correctly and the oil seems the best.It is pure hemp oil from an American farm that i am using. It is only sold at drugstores. You need to know what you are using the same way you would look for any supplement and check the source. Pure Hemp oil tastes yucky, I wouldn't mix it with food I mix it with a teaspoon or two of fruit juice. Food would slow down the response time. I mistyped the dose in my other post: i purchased a 1000ml bottle of pure hemp oil and you use one dropper full which supplies 20 mg of oil. That is a dose.I paid $140, but 1000ml lasts a long time. If you are diabetic watch your glucose carefully. Drink plenty of fluids.Tell your regular doctor that you are using it. This is a a natural substance ,comparable to using aspirin or turmeric. Don't expect a sudden jolt of pain relief. It offers a subtle, gentle soothing of pain when used correctly. I have no information of how it would affect a type 1 diabetic. I am a type II. Any type 1 diabetic needs to speak with their doctor before using this.

Hello, I am new to this site and look forward to a long and healthy relationship with the group. In reading some of the posts, I see where some of you have tried CBD and with very good results. I read a long article on it last night and it said it is legal in all 50 states. I would love to try it but I want to be sure that it comes from a reliable source, Can anyone tell me where I can get this product. I have chronic pain from back issues, abdominal hernias ( many repairs ) severe IBS, arthritis in back, legs, hips, both shoulders, and both hands. Right now I look 7 months pregnant due to numerous abdominal hernias. I am also borderline diabetic and take metformin with good results. thanks for reading my post. Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

It is federally legal but left up to the states. Idaho and Mississippi are the only two holdouts, I believe.

I was under the impression I didn't need to see a Doctor for CBD. Are you sure we are talking about the same thing? CBD is legal in all states.

Thank you for getting back to me and getting me straight on that. I got my bottle of CBD oil, the directions are to take a full dropper under the tongue and leave for 60 to 90 seconds, swallow the remaining. Ok I tasted it and I can't think of anything to compare it to, lets just say it tasted terrible and I knew there was no way I could put that oil under my tongue, leave it there and swallow what;s left. Just no way, no no way, absolutely not, no way. lol ( funny but true) I also understand you can also put it in food. So okay, all I needed to do was find something to put it in, very simple right ? Well, I thought so too. It seems oil especially GREEN oil, doesn't like to be mixed with food of any kind what so ever. Then I tried it with Vanilla pudding, I put the oil in a little hole in the pudding, put the pudding with the oil in my mouth and took another bite real fast then took a big drink of soda and low and behold it went down without any problems. So now how is it working for me? I am not sure yet, maybe after a few more pudding cups and I'll know but I do think it helped my pain a little but certainly nothing to compare to what I've heard others were experiencing, do you think it was the pudding? teehee. What else can I try? any ideas? and how can I go about getting the CBD you get in Canada ? Maybe next time I order I will try to smoke it. Maybe that will work better.... Anything that you or anyone else can suggest would be very appreciated.. thanks

@jeanie26 I know exactly what you mean..the best kind with no additives tastes terrible. The reason you hold it in your mouth is for quick absorption. If you mix it with food it will go straight to your belly which will delay relief time. I do this: I add it to two teaspoons of clear juice.I also learned that you have to mix it up in a real container-it goes right through the bottom of a little paper cup. I've tried a few and I find that the drugstore variety sold only by pharmacies is the best.

Sometimes it's not strong enough depending on your level of pain. I recent tried Pinnacle Hemp for the 1200mg. It works well though I am sleepy after taking it. So I only take it in the evening.

I've been reading these posts for awhile now and there's so much great information being shared. I've learned a lot just reading what others are writing about their experiences. This is my first post, so I hope I'm doing it correctly. A coworker told me about cbd and I first tried it in November 2018. I tried two brands that were full spectrum products and it seemed even though the thc content was minimal, it aggravated my anxiety and I wanted to give up on it. I decided to try a broad spectrum product (no thc) and I found it really has been helpful. From January through April of this year I was on a downward spiral. I started using the broad spectrum product in April and I really was surprised that it helped me. I was dealing with depression, anxiety, anorexia, and a graves disease flare up. I've noticed my mood is better. I'm not having weird mood swings. I sleep better. I am hoping to eventually stop taking clonazepam and am needing that med much less now. I've tried antidepressants in the past with no success. CBD oil and cbd gummies have really surprised me by helping me. It's intimidating to try a new product especially when there aren't any dosage guidelines and it's hard to find the right product, but I'm glad I didn't give up. I really thought nothing was going to ever help.
