CBD oil for pain

Posted by timfitz @timfitz, Jul 19, 2016

After trying opiates, and lyrica, and mostly just suffering I tried sublingual CBD which is from the marijuana plant, but has no THC in it, you don't get high. It was very very effective. Not only did it reduce my pain at least 75%, it has a calming effect on the anxiety produced in those of us with chronic pain by the fact we have it. I do recommend it.... Be sure it is from a reliable source. You don't need to smoke anything or get high.

I use a 50/50 mixture of CBD and THC. Contrary to what most people post, THC is also a great pain reliever. I feel no "high" from taking it. I also use a 100% THC atomizer sub lingual for breakthrough pain. Please research your opinions before posting them as FACTS.

Hello, I am new to this site and look forward to a long and healthy relationship with the group. In reading some of the posts, I see where some of you have tried CBD and with very good results. I read a long article on it last night and it said it is legal in all 50 states. I would love to try it but I want to be sure that it comes from a reliable source, Can anyone tell me where I can get this product. I have chronic pain from back issues, abdominal hernias ( many repairs ) severe IBS, arthritis in back, legs, hips, both shoulders, and both hands. Right now I look 7 months pregnant due to numerous abdominal hernias. I am also borderline diabetic and take metformin with good results. thanks for reading my post. Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

You can get a CBD product made from common Hemp. It is VERY weak and not much good for any chronic pain.

There is SOME low-grade CBD being peddled. It is wild hemp yielding very little CBD or THC. It has so little in it that it is questionable as to it's effect.

@timfitz..... Although THC contains BOTH pain relief and psychoactive properties, I find that, in prescribed amounts, I definitely don't get high, but the added pain relief I receive is wonderful. I take a 50/50 blend of THC and CBD along with a spray of straight THC administered sublingually for breakthrough pain. I rarely use it..

I stared using CBD oil for Restless Legs Syndrome (RLS). It has been amazing. Within 48 hours I was able to reduce my medication for RLS (pramprexole - dopamine based) by 1/3. I would like to keep going with it, but am on hold for right now, because I am concerned about the effect of CBD on blood coagulation. (I had a minor ischemic stroke about 10 years ago and have been on Plavix since.) The "obese rat" study keeps coming in my my searches for research-based information on this topic, but other than that, I haven't found much. Anyway, my hopeful goal to to use CBD to assist in withdrawing (extremely gradually) from the pramprexole. I have to tell my doctor all this, and am afraid to.

It depends upon what state you're in whether you should be afraid to tell your doctor. I'm in California and both my pain management doctor and my internal medicine doctor told me to use CBD's. They actually gave me the name of a physician where I can get a license for it. They were very supportive. I have seen other people mention that they're pain management doctors would drop them as patients if that used anything relating to marijuana. I will approach the subject carefully and ask what their opinion is on the subject. Jennifer

Appreciate hearing your experience. I'm in Minnesota, where medical marijuana is legal, but I know RLS would not qualify for it. And I ask myself why would I want to jump through all those hoops anyway, and get involved with prescriptions and pharmaceutical companies, when CBD oil, which I understand is legal in all states now, seems promising. I will approach the topic carefully, though, as you suggest. Thanks.

If it's legal in your state and you have a diagnosis, they give you the license you do have to pay for it but it's not much. Your doctor just has to back you up. Do you have any prescriptions for medications for your diagnosis, just show them that. Or any tests are positive, or just your doctors note.

Here in MN, marijuana oil without THC (CBD only) is available by prescription from licensed dispensaries around the state. Only certain medical conditions qualify, and chronic pain was just added to that approved list. Unfortunately, it is nearly impossible to find a physician who has gone through the bureaucratic steps necessary to prescribe the oil. It is a major hindrance to obtaining the oil, and dispensaries are charging inflated prices just to stay in business. Why is the medical community so hesitant to get behind medical marijuana? I don't see liability as an issue because of the lack of THC. Medical marijuana may work for some and not others, but that is no different than with other medications. Does anyone have suggestions for convincing our doctors to get certified to prescribe? I am afraid to take the oil I bought from CW Botanicals because I could be kicked out of my pain program if I test positive for THC; it would be in violation of my pain contract.

Curious why you would say that? Are you just against general? If you stay away from the THC, there is no high. CBD's to affect the pain levels. Has said below some people like the 50-50, some people take just the CBD there is no effect to your brain thinking or feeling. It's just a choice.
