Prostate Artery Embolization for BPH. Anyone have it done?
PAE can be done through wrist or femoral artiry. Usually catheter is not needed. Catheter is for as a marker by some radialogists. I am wondering if it can be done without any sedation? Thanks.

As long as you do not have a medium lobe issue the success rate is pretty good.
As long as the radiologist has performed the procedure successfully multiple times you should be okay.
Look at the possible side effects. And make sure you can live with them.

This form has a lot of information on pae experiences. You'll have to scan through it under Men's Health and prostate issues. Like I said before if you have an experienced radiologist there should be no issues. The nice thing about pae as you probably already know is it is repeatable has a good recovery rate and zero sexual side for most.

I had this done in February 2023. Could not be happier, back to being 30 again, I’m 72 now.
No side effects but I must tell you, recovery for 10 days was a living hell.
I read your earlier post. Glad for your outcome; not for the 10 days of bad pain. Would it have helped to self-catheter in those 10 days? 2 liters is about 60 oz, tough. I do self-catheter now and maybe that would help in the recovery? So pleased you are doing well.

Self catheter was never mentioned to me but I could see how it could help.
Once recovering was done I continually improved for 6 months, just what the doctor predicted.
With a 5-10 year effectiveness I would definitely have it done again without hesitation. Good luck to you if you go this route, you won’t be sorry.

Forgot to ask about cost of the procedure? Thanks.
It was fully covered by Medicare and my supplement plan. I paid nothing, except for a lot of Motrin, which was recommended I start taking before the procedure.
About 5 days in I didn’t think it was helping so I stopped one dose, was that ever a mistake!
