@tropicgal711 I do take a "baby" aspirin each morning, and have for years. When there is a procedure scheduled, there is the admonition to stop it for 5-7 days ahead of time. Told it is for healthy heart, even though due to health conditions and subsequent meds/chemo, my risk for cardiac issues is greater. Each month my heart is checked at two different clinical visits, two different specialties.
If your doctor told you your past ulcers were due to aspirin, have you inquired about low dose now? Also, we all read about healthy diet and moderate exercise being so helpful for heart health, too! Don't forget that!

...and if you take the 81mg dose with food and drink (probably not good with alcohol or soda since they exacerbate stomach acids, or enhance them in the later case), you run a much lower risk of ulcers.

The research on aspirin is all over the place now. It used to be standard recommendation if cardiovascular disease was discovered or after a heart attack. You will see all kinds of adverisements non on PAC and A Fib drugs to help reduce clotting.
Aspirin was labled as a preventive tool. My PCP and I discusses this and he thought it would be best if I continue it. I think this was for mental treatment just as much as cardiovascular treatment.
Your doctor should not have recommended aspirin without telling you what it does. It helps prevent blood clots. PACs are a real culprit for blood clots and thus taking something to reduce blood clots can help prevent them.
Aspirin has known side affects to your stomach and also thins your blood making you bleed easier. I did have some surgeries where they told me to stop taking the aspiring prior to surgery and other surgeries where they said continue to take it.
Can't take it with Eliquis ... I was taking it in baby aspirin form (as others have noted here) for years without any negative issues. I look at it this way ... baby aspirin or stroke risk .... not even a few seconds to decide.
I’d really discuss the aspirin again with your doctors, as well as other options. There are risks and benefits to weigh. Does the cardiologist know of your stomach issues?
I am allergic to asprin, it makes my esophagus swell, so I can't touch it. But with CMVD I'm supposed to take one daily. Tylenol is what I was told to use instead. They said it's not as effictive as aprin but still does the job! I make sure I take at least 1000mg a day to remain effective.

So far no issues taking.
