Sutures didn't dissolve after tkr revision

These are nit external sutures. They are under the skin. The revision surgery was to scrape lots of scar tissue. Had hemi patellectomy and quadricepsplasty. The more the swelling improved the more visible the surures. They are hack hard pea sized bumps in a row under the skin. One is pointy and hurts for fabric ti brush against it. Surgeon says they are sutures but sure doesn't feel like sutures.

Hi, I had a revision for my total knee replacement and it's been four months and I have the same thing as the swelling has gone down visible row of bumps around the inside of my knee. I saw my surgeon again. He thinks they might be undissolved internal sutures. was wondering if yours had resolved. I think they're causing some complications in my recovery and our kind of painful.

I have same thing … my revision over year ago I don’t think mine is going to go away just got a few more bumps… h also said could be sutures but don’t think so …. Just affect me when I am doing massage

But you all are right pea size some pointy …. I think going have to do some more research… if you all find out anything please let me know I will do the same…

Thanks!!! At least I know I'm not the only one and I'm not sure if I should try massaging them or just leave them alone. I don't know if there's some irritation at the point of suture that formed some scar tissue along the line of the internal incision. But I was hoping they would just go away. It seems perhaps not.

I believe calcification has occurred over the sutures so massage won't work. called heterotrophic ossification.

My knee after 14 month revision

My knee looks the same. Wouldn't mind most of the lumps but 2 are over the shin bone pointing through the skin and hurts when my knee bends. Dr appt 5/13 to address this. Will keep yoy posted.

Mine was bumpy too for a while. Someone told me to massage the whole area with Vitamin E oil or anything that is Vitamin E like an ointment or cream. I did it twice a day and the bumpy area resolved over time. The doctor told me it was just scar and skin that was pulled in to close the incision. It is fairly common.
