Congrats on your 4 year anniversay, sounds like you're doing well too. We saw the neph the other day he says hubby can stop doing monthly labs though I still think he should do labs every other month. Some say should continue to do monthly labs indefinitely or as long as the transplanted kidney is viable. Are you still doing labs periodically? Hubby sees his neph once every 4 months now and doctor orders full suite of labs.
Yes I will keep you posted on his 2 year checkup at Mayo Az. The third checkup will just be a remote appointment. After that, they say that we'll be on our own but doctor says we can go back to Mayo Az anytime we need to.

I think most 4 year transplant patients get their labs done every 3 or 4 months.

How often do you get your routine labs done now and how often did you get them done at your 4 year anniversary?
I get mine done approximately every 2 to 3 months now.

I get mine done every 3 months and have since before my 4 year anniversary. I am at 6 years now.

It's wonderful to hear from you! Congratulations on your 6 year anniversary....wow, how time flies. Yes, that's what I thought. If everything is going well after the 4 year anniversary, most patients go every 3 months for lab work.

Believe me my motivation to read case studies published ..endlessly is very simple " to get some sense of what is happening" my Out of state Transplant center couldn't believe & have made comments you read a lot ... .... I like to trust every local Dr until........

I’m nearly 18 years post pancreas transplant. Next will be a kidney transplant (God willing). I see endocrinology and nephrology quarterly and do my labs about every 3 - 6 months. I don’t remember how often it was at 4 years post.

@hello1234 I thought I replied a couple of days ago but I am mistaken. Sorry. The “18 years post transplant” that I love to refer to was a pancreas. I still have my original native kidneys. (You all are ahead of me there.) But I have CKD stage 4. I am inactively listed for kidney transplant. I’ve been evaluated, approved and accepted for transplant. I would like to have a preemptive transplant before dialysis becomes necessary. I’ve been looking for a living donor for about 8 years (to no avail). I want to be proactive. Thank God my GFR is still too good for active listing!

I can remember seeing a graphic somewhere that 3 month labs become the standard over time. I'm currently on 3 month repeat at 15 year with liver and kidney transplant. I remember looking at that graphic and seeing the 3 month routine lab as my dream! I really don't understand why I was so excited when my labs were extended from 2 months to 3 months because I had already been on a 3 month schedule for at least 8 years before my transplant as my progressive liver disease was monitored!
Be aware that 3 months is suggested and can/will be adjusted as needed.
