@betzymontero8 Congratulations on your dad's transplant! I have heard it is possible to have the native kidney ["old kidney"] still function somewhat even after transplant. Afterall, the doctors attached his new kidney up, but most likely did not detach both kidneys. What was the underlying reason with his kidneys that he needed to be transplanted?
Ginger
Yes, I am very grateful to God for the transplant.
The transplant was done because he was on dialysis for 1 and 4 months.
He was still urinating.
All other results are in order. I Ask if anyone has experienced the same thing, because it scares me . I know I need to be relax and wait . But is hard I’m in his process since he got sick and I’m the donator . Thanks for your answer@ginger ❤️

@betzymontero8, I love hearing how you were able to donate a healthy kidney to your dad. What a joy and blessing for both of you!
I received a kidney and a liver 15 years ago. I was on dialysis for a couple months when my kidneys stopped suddenly due to my liver failure. I also still have my native kidneys, but they don't produce any urine.
This is a frightening time because it is all new to us, at least was for me and my husband. Over tome, as your dad's body recovers and adjusts to the newness of the medications and lab routines, you and he will become more calm.
How is your getting along now? Is he feeling better and enjoying being free from dialysis? Do you or he have any questions about post transplant living?
I had a transplant 6 months ago. I had not been on dialysis and was told that my old kidneys would continue to function for awhile until they finally gave up. So yes, right now I have 3 functioning kidneys. Everything is still a little scary for me still because every little ache and pain you wonder what it means. I’m sure this will get easier. Getting the drugs adjusted correctly is more difficult than I realized it would be. A few side effects are annoying. Again, I think this will improve. Good luck to both you and your Dad.

My daughter was my precious donor.
Hi @betzymontero8 😊
You mentioned that your Dad's native kidney is still working a little and is "responsible". Are your father's lab results showing something that concerns or scares you?
What effects do you have for the immunosuppressants? diarrhea, vomiting?
