Have you had a revision? What questions should I ask?
I am almost 3 years out (June 2021) from the sleeve. When I started my process, I planned on doing a RNY but was convinced by the nurse practitioner of the program that I wasn’t a good candidate due to the mental health meds I take. Seeing how they were my providers, I believed they had my best interest at heart. I do blame myself in part as I didn’t ask more questions. I was never told until a year out that I’d probably never lose more than 100 lbs. I have lost 110 lbs and they keep acting like it’s some miracle. I started at well over 300 lbs so I’m still over 200 lbs now. I’m still considered morbidly obese. Because I have SVT, I cannot take phentermine or anything like that. I have an appointment next week to talk about doing a revision. I need info. What questions do I ask? Have you had one? What do I need to know?

Omg, you look awesome! I don’t know know much about your question, just wanted to say hi and congratulations on your progress. Good luck.
Haven’t had a revision but I am curious about the issue of mental health medications and RNY? I had RNY and take a few of that typ of medications. Nobody mentioned a problem with it.
You look great!
It just had to do with the absorption of them. I had to switch a few from extended release to immediate release. I honestly think it would be fine because I still take 3 meds that are capsules and I don’t have any issues. I think it was more of a precautionary thing.
And thank you! I mean, I feel better but I’m still so overweight! It makes me so frustrated.
Thank you so much!!
Oh that makes sense. Thank you for the clarification. I’m in the same boat as you are lost 90 pounds but nowhere near where I want to be
Can you take Wegovy?
It’s frustrating that’s for sure!
Can I? I suppose. Will I? Not sure. My insurance won’t cover it. They will cover Zepbound though. My husband just started that this week. I just hear way too many stories about it, so I’d like to wait.
I have so appointment on the 16 in Duluth, MN to meet with the surgeon, dietitian and someone else- I forget who. I’d like to hear what they have to say.
I see. Mine either. I was told by many that if your insurance won’t cover it, the company has a program to get it free. Idk. I gave up and didn’t pursue it, as I was already losing weight on my own.
I won’t say I won’t ever take it, but for now, I’m ok. I’ve done a substantial amount without it. I do consider the med less invasive than surgery, which is why I mentioned it.
I am planning to have the Roux N Y done this summer, and would like to learn more about the medications you are talking about. I am on depression and Anxiety medications. I would rather not have to take them at all if/when I have the surgery.
