Post-Covid dizziness/off-balance, as most troubling symptom

Posted by kirstenk2003 @kirstenk2003, Mar 30, 2022

I contracted Covid in December 2021 and am currently dealing with persistent dizziness (off balance, sometimes feels like swaying, rocking, spinning, or a pull to one side). My other most bothersome symptoms are ear ringing, headaches (pressure in the head), feelings of pressure change in my ears, trouble multitasking or thinking, along with developing anxiety/ depression and some elevated heart rate and blood pressure.

Dizziness was not a symptom of my initial infection. I developed dizziness (not BPPV) around January 15th. I saw a physical therapist who determined I had Vestibular Hypofunction and I began vestibular therapy. It seemed to be working and I even returned to my office job for about 3 weeks, restricted hours. Two weeks ago I began feeling worse again. My physical therapist believes my initial issue has improved - so he doesn't know what's causing my current onset of symptoms. I started an antihistamine to combat any allergy related ear fluid, along with an anxiety medication to try and improve my blood pressure and heart rate.

I'm going to see an ENT next, and hope that I haven't waited too long to try other remedies (if there are any). Has anyone else experienced this overwhelming dizziness and had positive results with treatment or answers as to the cause? I'm scared that this is going to be how I feel forever.

OMG! Someone else who experiences the same "dizziness" feelings I do! It's almost like a wave pulling on you, right? You described it so well.
I find being overwhelmed, stressed, or tired will exasperate this.

There used to be a lot of discussion on this point, but lately nothing. So, I am glad to know I am not the only one with this debilitating problem. I am sorry for your situation, but can totally understand how you feel. I have been dealing with it for 4 years now. Lately, I have been experiencing some slight improvement, but I have a LONG way to go to get back to some sort of normalcy. I will write more later.

A wave dragging you - best description of the type of dizziness I started about a month ago. Today our wall felt like a magnet to my left side, so got firmly pulled into it. I've experienced the usual dizziness for the four years I've had LV.

I'm 66 yrs old now, and I get dizzy too!!! Since I've had C19 in July 2022. I spent 10 days in the hospital. I've fallen 23 times and I've fainted 16 times basically with lack of any warning since C19. We literally have placed chairs every 15 feet so I can sit if I don't have my walker. I hit my head and caused a minor brain bleeds. Long covid is real.
Have a blessed day

I think I have responded before. Time Marches on
( but Aprils on?)

I at long covid 4 years. I had perhaps 20 dizzy spells a day for months. For me dizzy is less accurate than ""almost pasding out or feinting," with emphasis on almost.

Im at one ir two a week now, at night, when lying flat.

Why? I di not know. I take various vitamins but have little faith in them. Them anyway.

I do use CBD oil becsuse it DOES help sleep. Who knows whst?

Doctors hsve bern useless. I blame no one. But useless never the less.

I have the exact symptoms, they come and go, like flare ups, it's horrible and no one understands...not even doctors. I can't concentrate, I have the famous mental foginess and Aderral has helped.

I have been dealing with Long Covid and dizziness for almost 4 years. I have gone to every doctor that I can find with no luck at all. My neurologist prescribed 4 days of gamma globulin IV, off for a month then 2 more days in a row of gamma globulin. I would say my neuropathy in my feet has improved, but my dizziness is the same. I have been through 3 rounds of physical therapy and am now doing 2 more and have not noticed any difference. I saw someone here mention CBD oil. I am going to try that.
