Pneumonia vaccine or not?

Posted by cesaly1 @cesaly1, Mar 30 9:11am

I just love that one month, my pulmonology office says, Get the pneumonia vaccine, and many months later says, You can't get the pneumonia vaccine when you have MAC/bronchiecstasis. I need a new pulmonologist but, for now, I sure could use some advice on protocol.
Thank you.

Sounds like your naturopath had a good solution for taking care of the strep.
Do you remember what herbs, how much and how often she suggested to take?
Wow, the statement coming from the Mayo Doctor about RSV and Covid research and her thoughts. Interesting and adds to my beliefs, and I could be wrong. I so often hesitate about many things unless it, they, have been around for at least 20 years. I hesitatingly did the original two Covid and in October 2023 the RSV. As far as I could tell, immediately after, I had no side affects. The reality is, however, we truly do not know how all these vaccines, suggested, truly affect the body....long term??? Do they really know??? Look forward to hearing about the herbs. Thanks.

Like Sue, I was encouraged to get the vaccines. I asked my doc in bronchiectasis clinic about RSV and was encouraged to get it as soon as possible. (I had delayed because of URI’s from grandchildren). I asked last month if I really need another Covid booster-had one in fall. He said I should-I had 2
two trips planned for spring.

I am surprised at Mayo doc response. I saw a doc in Mayo’s pulmonary clinic a year ago and I’m pretty sure she told me to stay up with recommended vaccines and verified that I’d had RSV and pneumonia. (It could’ve been the resident.)

Side note…My sister-in-law had RSV and flu at the same time a few years ago and ended up on a ventilator for several days.

The fact that National Institutes of Health actually published that comprehensive summary suggests to me that the narrative is changing. Given the emergent side effects, it is about time. Clinics will catch up. Perhaps in the meantime it is all up in the air.

Anecdotally, when I was seen in urgent care for a sore throat I thought was strep but was not, the doctor of Indian descent, suggested I gargle with turmeric. I did and it helped a lot.

Gargle with:
1/2 c warm water
1/2 teasp salt
1/4 teasp powdered tumeric

I take Tumeric tablets once or twice a week, sometimes more often, for inflammation, my choice after reading that it helps with inflammation. Interesting the suggestion of gargle with it along with the salt water. My expereinces in the last several years has been good results with doctors of international training who had to do some retraining, or shall we say review or further training, to be able to practicee in the US. Thanks for your replies and info.

Is McCollough with the White Lotus Clinic in Canada?
The summary, the website, is related to Covid Vaccine. Interesting statements and article.
Is that what you are referring to as showing "a comprehensive summary."
The website given is not related to McCollough protocol that includes herbs.?
Thanks for your responses.

No. Peter McCullough is a respected Dallas internist and cardiologist, albeit much maligned by the media at the height of the Covid hysteria. He also is the chief scientific officer for a virtual health care clinic, The Wellness Company. It sells products online but you need a doctor's prescription for them. I have not contacted them because I am not (yet) sick enough.

Good news, "I am not (yet) sick enough."
Overall, at this juncture, I don't think I am that sick also. Waiting on a sputum result to know if I have more going on than I know of.

I support everyone listening to their Doctors and taking the Docs recommended vaccines.
My case is unique. I had very bad reactions to the Covid boosters. The one I had last August was my fifth Covid shot and I believe that is why my Pulmonologist at Mayo said no more Covid shots because it lowered my immune system so much I caught strep. When I met with her n person, I expressed my concern about RSV because I had several friends that had bad reactions to it, when they had no reaction to Covid. Knowing how I react to vaccines, my Doc recommended that she didn’t think it was necessary for me considering my reactions to vaccines. She also said that there were not enough studies yet to justify it for me. She might have recommended it for other patients that did not have reactions like me. Getting vaccines is individual between you and your Doctor.
I will private message you about the herbs I took that helped me get over strep. Please know that I have used natural products of herbs, homeopathics, and essential oils for over 30 years. That is what my body is use to. I do use antibiotics, when I have an infection but not long term.

There may be a small number of people who shouldn’t get a Moderna or Pfizer vaccine but for the vast majority of people, I have read a great deal about the benefits of the vaccines. There are variants with different symptoms now, but if you are over 60 and have BE it isn’t necessarily just a quick cold.
I’ve never heard of it causing strep throat, but I know it ramps up our immune systems for the first few weeks. I’ll be looking for new research that cautions certain groups from taking a vaccine.

The fall 2023 vaccine protected us from the most recent circulating variants at the time. I have travelled on a plane( masked) like @sueinmn and attended functions and haven’t yet had Covid. Perhaps just luck. The risk of any upper and lower respiratory illness is significant enough for those of us with bronchiectasis. I’m happy to have avoided Covid so far.
