I was told that I had asthma for 15 years. I got pneumonia and had a CT scan and found out that it is pulmonary fibrosis.

thank you for sharing .
I’ve never had pneumonia. Several attempts to try other inhalers, major problems with many of them, I suffered severe hoarseness caused by the powdered bast inhalers. Recently took a Breathing lung function test, waiting for results.
The coughing is so severe at night and in the morning that my throat is sore often.

Since the coughing is a fairly recent development and inhalers aren't effective, are you seeing a pulmonologist? And have you had a recent x-ray or CT scan to rule out other problems?

It’s been 2 years since the coughing began. I do have a referral to a pulmonologist
Next month.
Thanks

Since you have asthma, can you ask your primary md for a steroid burst. At least by the time you see pulm md next month, you will have more info if you responded well or not to steroid burst. Sorry, cough at night is horrible, I am just getting over being sick, not fun!

I hope you will start feeling better soon !

My spouse went through the "It must be allergies" response for (only) three years, he finally went to a teaching /research hospital and discovered that he has IPF. Apparently, pulmonary fibrosis is the last condition (most of them work on a "rule-out" system encouraged by the insurance companies) pulmonologists look for—many, many people go through the same process and discover that they have not been suffering from asthma or allergies but IPF. I hope you find a well-practiced pulmonologist soon. Sometimes, I think the condition can be stopped from getting worse, but last we knew, that's rare.

@healthsnobx3, thank you for your response. I have do think that I have had this fibrosis a long time and they never looked for it. I am going to Mayo now for all of my care and my Pulmonologist is amazing!! I am praying that they can stop the progression. I return in 3 months to see if the meds are working!
