Journaling - The Write Stuff For You?
Long ago –okay, for me, it was long ago!- it was common for a young person to keep a diary, a place to write down the heartaches and giggles of growing up, the trials and tribulations of school, friendships, sports and activities. Sometimes it was a locked book, so that we felt secure knowing our secret thought remained a secret.
How times have changed! While I no longer keep a classic diary, it is no less important for me to write down thoughts, ideas, and heaven-knows-what, on a regular basis. Nowadays, the common name is a “journal”, and seems to appeal to every segment of society. There are an abundance of ways to do this, and so many reasons why. Although I prefer longhand, many people use a computer, and there are any number of prompts/styles/methods.
Let’s explore this together!
Do you journal? What prompted you to start? What would you tell someone who wants to start?

Hello to all,
I’m just finishing up my walk at the mall with my trusty blue paisley cane with 4 nice rubber flexible foot prongs.. it is pleasantly crowded but not overly so… I met some of my favorite merchants and fist pumped my ‘stranger’ friends…it’s nice to have a family of anonymous friends that wave or smile or offer a fist pump…the hips are sore and knee from the fall 2 weeks ago, but nothing painful when I put weight on either side and especially the hip replacement side…it will be a year ago this 27th that my wonderful surgeon and his anesthesiologist gave me new life on the left side…my vertigo still hangs around if I move my head a certain way but I am aware of this and on guard with cane…last night a recorded a nice 24 minute jam in e Dorian.
Sometimes the playing and motifs just aren’t cooking but last night was a good recording..thank God for my hobby…I woke again with the morning fear 😧 but it subsided once I got moving…I wish all who come here a nice day and safe weekend…🙏pvctom
Good days are certainly something to hang on to! And recall them when another day doesn't seem so rosy.
Ginger
Thanks for that good advice and your support Ginger…and for putting me into this journal thread…🙏
Has anyone considered joining a writing club, either online or local/in-person?
A recent writing workshop leader, a poet and writing coach, mentioned journaling as a way to gain clarity around thoughts and feelings.
Dorian is a wonderful mode...maybe the most beautiful.
@edsutton
Thanks Ed for your reply…yes it is…the mode I like to play over with improvisation..the mode is a happy mysterious mix with the major 6….🙏pvctom
@nemo1
Thank you for this beautiful music it hit the spot.
God bless you.
I love that "Move mountains" is the softest, most gentle phrase in the piece.
This says a lot to me, how sometimes the most overwhelming resistance clears away, not through pushing and fighting, but in response to a gentle, loving understanding.
