Can water replacing diet soda cause problems?

Can replacing diet soda and unsweet tea intake with water cause diarrhea and pain in the bottom area that is NOT hemorrhoids? I was advised to do this replacement by a health coach and I began it a month ago, but I have had a pain in my bottom almost like a pulled muscle or when you fall and bruise your tailbone in addition to diarrhea since this past Saturday.
I was drinking 6-8 diet sodas a day and haven't had one for 2 months now. I am up to 80 ounces of water a day now.

Congregation on making a healthy switch from diet soda to water. Drinking enough water is a problem I struggle with.

I am not sure if there would be a relationship in change that would cause diarrhea and pain. Especially if change happen few months ago. If either continue, check with health coach or provider.

Mayo has good article about how much fluids to drink:

Any helpful suggestions on how your increasing your water intake?

I hope your pain has resolved. If it hasn't, you might consider a check up . My son had a perianal abscess that caused severe pain. Sometimes that can be a cause of pain in that area. Other possibilities are anal fissure, or irritation or bruising from exercising on something like a stationary bike. Water instead of soda is unlikely to cause those health issues. You may have caught a bug ( gastritis) or eaten something that wasn't fresh enough or did not agree with you which is causing diarrhea.

Hi. I stopped drinking any soda, teas or anything with artificial sweeteners since my surgery in 2006. My surgeon told me to stay away from carbonated beverages. I tried a little Diet Coke last week and it tasted awful! So I live primarily on water, unsweetened iced tea and 2 cups of coffee daily. Quitting soda is a good thing, it shouldn’t make any problems.
