Balance issues with Bronch?
I’m 64 with extensive bronchiectasis. Started 14 years ago. I am otherwise very healthy but of course have slowed down quite a bit. I’m always battling a fungus or bacteria but I do the best I can. About 9 months ago I started having balance problems (even though I have done yoga for years. I am very limber and can stand on one foot easily. The issue I have is I’m running into walls, misjudging a counter so a glass falls on the floor, pivoting is a problem. No dizziness. Doc took me off all meds and nothing changed. Went to ear doctor, neurologist and had an mri. Nothing. With BE being such anomaly, I thought I’d see if maybe my fellow BE friends may have some insight. . Thank you. 😊

@barbfit - Just one last thought for you - an ophthalmologist? Visual issues, sometimes subtle, can cause changes in depth perception. Sounds a little like what you are experiencing.

I've had balance issues ever since I started the antibiotics 5 years ago. A bout with first time covid last fall was terrible, a walker, cane, PT. Had oral surgery last week and back it came. We suspect nerve damage in the ear even though my hearing is good. Age 65
I only had covid once may 2022. Very dizzy the first day I tested negative. Off and on dizzy for short periods until March 2024. Don't know if long covid or lack of oxygen. I started anoro and saline neb recently and not dizzy. I hope it was just long covid leaving after 22 months. It is a very unpleasant sensation. Cynthia 69
I've also experienced some strange balance issues. Nothing serious like falling down, but veering into things and hand coordination. I sometimes feel a little dizzy but not always. My Bronchiectasis is fairly mild and I have had my eyes checked, but have an appointment with my doctor next month. May be no connection but worth looking into.
Thanks Sue-I did see my eye doctor who said my vision is fine. However, I had a retinal detachment 10 years ago so I’ve thought about going back to my eye surgeon. Weird it would start happening 10 years later though but it’s worth a try. Thank you for the input!
Thank you Cynthia- I hope you continue to be symptom free. The weird thing about my case is I have no dizziness or awarenesss anything is going to happen. I mostly feel unusually, very clumsy!
That is interesting. And sounds similar to my symptoms. While my hands don’t shake, my handwriting and fine motor skills with my hands seem to be “off”
Let me know if your doc has anything enlightening! I wish your bronch continues to be stable.
Hi Barbfit,
Thanks for well wishes. I hope you figure things out.
