Anyone had experience with OsteoStrong, who is not a franchisee?

Has anyone had experience with OsteoStrong? It suggests you will get a large increase in bone density while using their facility 10 minutes per WEEK. Somewhat pricey at $99 and up per month, but am curious if anyone who is NOT a franchisee, has experienced this program?

Thank you -- my bone doc says power plate could be too strong, could cause fractures. That's why I went for the VibrantHealth BC; it's supposedly LIV and not likely to cause fractures. it's so aggravating that the research on anything but pharmaceuticals is so sketchy!

Interesting! His is the large one and has multiple strengths. I start out at 30 and move up every minute (to 50) before my biodensity session. Then do it again after my session.

His response to needing research was not great - he said Power Plate web page had good research and that other companies were using Power Plate research to help market their machines.

I went there and it was awesome but I went to visit a orthopedic specialist and he told me that Osteo Strong would not be for individuals with osteoarthritis only osteoporosis. The staff at Osteo Strong disagreed.
Osteostrong machines were great. They had a machine that the staff would select if you wanted help with inflamation or other choices. I selected inflamation and you sit near it but it can go out 6 feet and it sends out an energy that helps with inflamation. It really helped. I will check with another ortho doctor I have and see what she says. I was going to a new ortho because I thought he did something new but he was a joke

What do you mean inflammation machine “it sends out an energy”?
I can’t use BMI weight scales because it puts a small current through my body and causes my heart to pound fast and hard. So is that making sending out a current?

Machine not making!

I think she is referring to red light therapy where you sit in front of the red light in a dark room and turn slowly so it can ease inflammation in the body. Google it ✔️

How long did it take you to show improvement on BMD? I am doing a similar program with a trainer.
Are you continuing with the heavy lift program?
I’m thinking it’s a lifetime thing. I have found I really enjoy it.

Osteostrong isn't HEAVY lifting. It's COMPRESSION. The kind you can only get with HIGH IMPACT which isn't very safe if you're older or already have osteopenia or osteoporosis. I'm going to post a separate reply to the author of this thread's question about MY experience with Osteostrong.

I have been doing osteostrong for almost 2years. (it will be two years next month).
I recently got my first DEXA scan since I started the program. I was scheduled to get one this year ANYWAY because my last one in 2022 showed osteoporosis. I have NEVER taken a single osteoporosis prescription medication but I have had them prescribed. I started Osteostrong because of my 2022 DEXA. And I was nervous to see the results of this newest one nearly 2 years after starting the program.

I was DELIGHTED to see that my spine (L1-L3) had increased by 7.2 % and my total left hip had increased by 4.4% without taking anything OTHER THAN a REALLY good Calcium supplement for the past several years. (I take BONE BUILDER FORTE by METAGENICS because the type of calcium is HYDROXYAPATITE (a HIGHLY absorbable calcium).

My RIGHT HIP was reported as NSC (No Significant Change). The only negative result was to my right femur neck which got SLIGHTLY worse but I have an issue with that leg that we're now addressing in my regular routine at OSTEOSTRONG. I go once a week and use the vibration plates before and after using the osteostrong machines. They have been shown to sort of trigger the bones before the compression. And I WISH I only had to pay $99 a month. In BOULDER CO in 2024 the monthly fee is $199. But I have a friend who pays $1000/month WITH INSURANCE coverage for DAILY FORTEO shots that she has to self administer. I'll gladly pay $200/month for non invasive Osteostrong!

I'm beyond thrilled with my first dexa since I started Osteostrong. I'd say it's worth EVERY DIME.

By the way, my MEDICAL DOCTOR wrote to me after she assesssed my test results (after years of trying to get me to do Fosamax or Reclast): "While you still have some readings that are in the range of osteoporosis or osteopenia my recommendation is to STAY OFF MEDICATION and CONTINUE WITH THE OSTEOSTRONG PROGRAM." FYI she didn't capitalize those words...I did for you guys because I thought they were remarkable coming from a medical doctor!

I just bought an AXV vibration exercise machine. I use a vibration platform at Osteostrong each week. I asked if they thought getting one at home would be beneficial. They agreed it would be helpful. My husband has Parkinson’s and I heard it is good for that too.
Does anyone out there use one each day? I’m on it for 15 minutes per day.
I agree that there is little information out there except for those who sell the machines!

@patjack2 The $140 vibration plate you purchased looks unsafe for osteoporosis. (Probably for Parkinson's too.) Based on the product's videos and reviews, it looks like it's a rocker plate that vibrates roughly, like a paint shaker. Please do be careful if you continue to use this machine -- sometimes you get what you pay for.

So sorry your OsteoStrong team didn't provide you any guidance about what to get for home, but they probably didn't know either. There is a lot of good info in this forum on whole-body vibration and plates (e.g., Marodyne) that you can obtain using a search. If you have any questions, I know folks here will try to help you and/or point you in a evidence-based direction.

Is Marodyne a product name? I would appreciate any info.

It’s a brand name of a vibration plate designed to stimulate bone remodeling for improved density. It hasn’t been conclusively proven to work, but many people swear by it. This particular brand has settings deemed safe for everyone. It costs around $4600 Canadian. I tried it and experienced ear pain and tinnitus, so I wasn’t able to take advantage of testing out its effectiveness.
