Any recommendations for a fast & durable Nebulizer Compressor?

Posted by raney @raney, Jun 7, 2022

Has anyone had a problem recently with Pari ProNeb Max or LC Sprint cups. I have been neb for over a year and it takes most of my day to do 2 or 3 meds twice a day (2 to 3 hours each time.). I have been told 10 - 15 mins per med. That has never happened with me. About 3 months ago, my Pari ProNeb Max sound got much softer and then my meds started foaming in the cups. (I have about 15 neb cups because I continue to buy them thinking that the foaming is from defective cup. The company replaced the compressor without any problems. Foaming occurred from the beginning with the 2nd one, and the 3rd and the 4th (all within the last 3 months). I hesitate to send this 4th one back because, I feel positive that another one will cause foaming also have the little palm sized Treak S. Same thing with it. Foaming.
J sterlize my equipment in Instant Pot or Bololo Baby bottle sterlizer ()which I learned about from this group. Thank you. They are great time savers. Up until a couple of weeks ago, I was using tap water to wash and rinse my equipment. Now I wash it and soak it in hot tap water, but the final rinse is filtered and boiled water.
******I would like recommendations for a FAST and DURABLE Neb compressor.

For those who have a Omba nebulizer, how loud is it? I’ve been using a DeVilbiss PulmoNeb LT bought locally. Just seems like it gets louder. Unfortunately just now I made a sudden turn while nebulizing and using my vest and pulled it off the table. I knocked something loose inside. I can use my Pari Trek S that I have for travel in the meantime, but I don’t care to use it as my full time nebulizer. So those of you who have good nebulizers and don’t seem horribly loud, what do you use? Thanks!

Ombra is a workhorse. As for loud, all I can compare to is the one I had before (provided by insurance) which was much louder than the Ombra. But I would not say the Ombra is quiet. A compressor is going to make noise because of the "work" it has to do. The Ombra is tough and reliable.

I use phillips resperonics I haven't had any problems. The motor died once after several years.but, I use it twice a day everyday. It's inexpensive. As far as noise, I don't know since I use only with a vest. I'm able to watch TV or listen to music.

The Ombra I agree with others is a workhorse. In case decibels mean anything to you, mine runs at 70 decibels. According to the app I used to measure it, decibels over 95 can be harmful to the ears. When using it I find the need to turn up the volume on the TV.

I use the Pari Trek S and Pari LC Sprint nebulizer cups all the time, not just for travel. I do get foaming sometimes, which I think may have to do with the angle at which I hold the cup. Slanting up from my mouth is best. Down I think leads to more foaming. At first I was very concerned about it, threw away one cup because I thought it was defective, but now I just keep nebulizing, until the foam as well as the liquid is gone. It may take a few minutes longer to get through the foam, but not that much. I nebulize only 7% saline, then use the Aerobika for 6 minutes while sitting up, 4 minutes on my back, and two on each side, huffing and spitting at the end of each position. I use the audio on the AD app to keep my rhythm on the Aerobika. The whole process takes about 45 minutes. I do a lot of coughing and spitting while nebulizing, so I'm not sure if it would be helpful to have a compressor that might make that process faster. It seems to me that to bring up all that sputum just takes a while, foam or no foam. Always open to new information though. 😊
