Transition Eliquis to Plavix?
My young adult son had a Watchman a month ago. Next week- he is scheduled to stop Eliquis and start Plavix. Plavix is ordered for 6 weeks. He has also been started on a baby aspirin daily, and will take it daily long term.
Just wondering how this transition has been for others that have done the same?
It's been over 2 years since he was started on any new heavy medicine. Just a little nervous. But, so happy that he will be off Eliquis (pending the results of his follow up CT.

I am having Watchman next week because of 11 side effects with Eliquis. I am chemically sensitive so I do wonder about the effects of a new drug, too.
Good luck with the procedure. I am so sorry to hear that Eliquis has been that difficult for you. Hopefully, soon you will be on the road to being off of it.
Please update us.
Last week, the LAA closure procedure was done. I had the Amulet, instead of The Watchman, because it fit my anatomy better. It seems I had 15 side effects with Eliquis--and am so glad to be off it. The shortness or breath and dizziness evaporated.
Until a TE echo confirms the appendage is sealed, I am on a baby aspirin and Plavix. After three medical errors almost killed me, it was another horror story to go through side effects. I am thankful that there is a solution.
Hi, I'm investigating the Watchman for my use due to XARELTO causing me many side effects. How is Amulet working for you?
I had the Watchman 2 days ago b/c of fall risks - I’m 76 with CP since birth. It was outpatient & I’m only having soreness in my right leg at the injection site. His NP said I’m more sore b/c of my petite size. I’ll stay on Eliquis 45 days, switch to Plavix for 6 months & then off all of it. Hope this info helps you decide.
Ginnnyjm, thank you for your response to my question. I'm going to investigate Plavix as well. When blood thinners basically cause so many side effects and impact your life to the point of feeling bad most of the time you need an alternative. Both Eliquis and Xarelto cause problems. Good luck on your treatment.
