Has anyone tried some form of antiviral cocktail regimen for their LC?
I’ve done a fair amount of research on chronic fatigue/post viral conditions, which is what long covid is. In these conditions, it has been found that viruses stay under the radar active creating all kinds of symptoms and disabilities and autoimmune conditions.
I’ve found some lessening of my symptoms with long term Paxlovid use. But I’m wondering if there’s even more antimicrobials/antivirals being tried and mixtures of things?
It seems most medicine is focused on the downstream symptom management but not the upstream cause of — let’s frickin kill this virus!!
I’ve read research that covid infects bacteria, gut bacteria too, so it could be a gut virus like Epstein Barr Virus that stays in your system causing LC.
Thinking maybe some type of antibiotic antimicrobials with antivirals cocktail might be a cure…
Similar to Lymes disease and TB where strong long term doses of antibiotics are used, I believe there could be a cure if the right concoction is discovered to clear the virus out.
I also think it’s short sighted that chronic fatigue syndrome isn’t formally recognized as a post viral condition that treatment can kill. And I think this short sightedness is causing many of us to feel left behind, hopeless and without answers because it’s causing a blind spot of not pushing to find this cocktail. The focus has been on the acute condition.
So back to my question, has anyone worked or tried some type of cocktail?

repl, I have tried the IV infusions (vitamin C, D & Zinc) for Long Covid and they didn't help. I also tried a stronger one with Glutathiane in it and had a reaction. There is an infusion called Myer's Cocktail that I have not tried, but, I am hesitant due to my sensitivity. You are correct about Ebstein Barr virus as COVID can reactivate that virus in your body. I had to go to an Integrative Medicine (Eastern Medicine) doctor to get some answers. Long Covid is hard to treat and you have to unpeel it one layer at a time, like an onion. You have to treat the worst symptoms and keep working to get results.
Honestly, I am considering red light therapy right now for pain and fatigue enhanced by Covid. It has worked wonders for many.
I am on a lot of vitamins and have been for months and I honestly can't tell they are helping at this point.
Low Dose Naltrexone is also on the table to help with Long Covid, but, I couldn't tolerate that one either. It does help a lot of people thought.
I pray you can some relief. Blessings to you....
Hi Covidstinks,
Thanks for your response and list of what you’ve tried.
It’s good to hear what has or hasn’t been working for people.
Curious, have you tried a round of Paxlovid? I know my brain fog, swelling and fatigue all started to improve after 2 days. Not sure it’s a long term solution but there’s something there.
I use red light therapy and have found red and near infrared to be the best mix that helps the pains and muscle fatigue the most.
I too am super sensitive to things and have MCAS with anaphylaxis so am super weary of trying new things. But I found Paxlovid actually helped with my hives so I think there’s something to antivirals. And I take H1 and H2 blockers daily which helped stabilize me.
Please let me know if you find something that works!
Best Wishes!
Thank you for the suggestions. I do not think I could tolerate Paxlovid due to sensitivity. Stay tuned....
Paxlovid is a very helpful antiviral medication and works very well for covid infection.. I used it for 5 days and my symptoms were gone but they did relapse. I have read that Paxlovid interacts with over 100 known medications so that can pose a problem. I have no doubt it’s going to minimize symptoms of Covid but I don’t think it was designed to use longer.
Hi Frouke,
Yes, Paxlovid definitely has some drawbacks, especially the drug interactions. I take it but I’m not on a lot of other meds like heart or diabetes meds which can be problematic. Also kidney disease is another issue in taking meds, especially Paxlovid due to poor clearance.
Paxlovid has only been approved for acute Covid but they haven’t actually tested it for LC. If enough case studies come forward with benefits for LC, this could change…
I’m also wondering about other antivirals for LC and if anyone has tried them?…
I have tried Valtrex and it helped lessen my fatigue for a month! But then completely stopped working. Trying again currently
Hi Deni5e,
Oh, that’s good to hear! How long have you been off of it and then trying it again? What dosage were you on and now on?
Also, did it help with any other symptoms (if you had them) such as heart palpitations, brain fog?
Hope it works again for you!
Recover study run by Yale University is running a large controlled study on 15 days of Paxlovid for Long COVID. Results now due out in June 2024.
@froggiiii Do you by chance have a link available to the Yale Paxlovid study?
Easy to Google but here is one link.
